Up until recently when Ludwig replaced their shell molds, they did not have the capabilities to make any shell deeper than 16". All of the custom Alex Van Halen, Eric Carr, etc extra deep drums were...

DO NOT take a belt sander to it. You'll have nothing left.

Without seeing the pics since I am at work and can't view Ebay, I'll say this; Those can be fixed easier than you think. I'm pretty sure...

Have you checked into getting molds for the Shures you already own? I was able to get molds made for mine and they are ancient....

Do it. The color of your drums should not be too hard to match. Ask your step dad while he is rounding over the edges on his router table. Color match first, then apply finish. Poly will have a...

If you plan on staining the shells, you've sanded TOO much. Stain needs the pours of the wood to sit in. If the wood is too smooth, the stain will not take or will look splotchy....

I once had a drunken former drummer turned singer tell me he didn't think I knew where 2 & 4 were, which was pretty ironic considering 75-80% of our entire night was sequenced with a click....
