I use HQ Sound Off pads. They kill the noise from drums and cymbals. The feel is still there for the most part.

Edit: Also you could get an electronic kit to practice on.

The step in price from sheet bronze to cast isn't worth it when you are starting out specially if money is tight

ZBT is the cheapest zildjian line. Perfectly fine for a beginner

I bought my SC Maple for 1500-2000 range 6 piece. It was used got it 7 years ago and still play on it and will be playing on it for the foreseeable future. That being said buy a kit the works for...
