Re: Should I Quit Band Due to Constant Critiques By Singer?

If she's consistently unsatisfied with your playing, you probably need to part ways. If you like her music and really want to make it sound great and please her, then you need to really try to...

Re: When is a good time to quit a band?

They had specific music that they had all agreed that they would be playing, yet he said it was a train wreck and sounded like a mess. When people don't care enough to prepare for rehearsal, there...

Re: When is a good time to quit a band?

I'm not familiar with how those three tunes are supposed to sound, but just going by the video you posted, it all sounds like one long extended mess, with a slight variation in the tempo. I wouldn't...

Re: 12" or 14"

Tony Williams played 13" and 14" mounted, and 14", 16", 18" floor toms. His drums were tuned quite high.

Re: Yet Again- Please help ID Ludwig snare

The water just needs to boil. The temperature will fluctuate depending on level above sea, or which planet you happen to be on. Feel free to add salt to taste. Gum should be bubble gum flavor,...

Re: Yet Again- Please help ID Ludwig snare

Chew a small wad of gum, and then press it to the shell. Then get some Silly Putty, stretch it a bit, and stick it to the strainer. Then cook some spaghetti in boiling water for eleven minutes,...

Re: Top 10 drummers you've seen in the flesh?

I have seen way too many great drummers live in person to narrow it down to just ten. There were quite a few I saw perform from very close up in small venues though. These were extra special. Phil...

Re: Tianjin Foreach International Co.,Ltd new snare

If the hoops are bent so that the head of the tension bolts rest squarely, that would be one thing. But I don't think that is the case.

Re: 24x14 vs 22x16 - Can't Decide!

That's true. Not much you can't do with that size.

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

There's a good reason for that. No matter how you mount the tom, a badge can be facing forward.

Re: 24x14 vs 22x16 - Can't Decide!

16" depth will allow you to install the tom holder further away from the batter side, if you decide to mount off the bass drum. Otherwise, I think the 14" depth is punchier in general. 15" would be...

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

That wasn't the idea. Who would rotate their toms in the middle of a set?

Their intent was to allow positioning either way, not for easy rotating. The drums will move and feel a bit different...

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

That's actually why they did it. The badge was mounted centered vertically. You can see video of Tony Williams playing with his toms mounted from the bottom here:...

Re: Theory: Nobody wants anything new

Older style bass drum spurs wouldn't prevent the bass drum from slipping away. Many drummers would tie a rope from their throne to the bass drum to mitigate the problem. Newer spurs are angled such...

Re: Theory: Nobody wants anything new

Playing with a lot of people is the name of the game for someone who values playing drums above all else. Playing music that you love or aspire to with a lot of people is a different story.
