Re: ...for the jazz cats ...

Philo,

Before Interstellar Space there was Meditations (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCek60uzvF0).
Before that, the classic A Love Supreme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H07OztoKgE).
Before...

Re: TOM TUNING

Like I said in my prior reply, if the changes have to be that large, then your best bet is to get another drum that'll fit in between them.
Amyway, what's a "sweet spot". You tune each drum 'til it...

Re: TOM TUNING

Well, if it were me, I think I would attack the 12. Drop its tuning.
How much? Til' it sounds "right" (to you) in the 10-12-16 combo.
Since you've moved the 14 to a different location, you've...

Re: TOM TUNING

Matt,

If you're worried that the difference between the 12 and the 16 is too great, I'll tell you, it'll be just fine.
I once had a 4-piece kit that was 20/12/16 and worked just fine.
Sure, its...

Re: SNARE TUNING

Scott,

Could it be that its the combination of modifications you've made to that drum that is just not working for you?
Do you still have the stock heads and wires?
If so, then here's something...

Re: Help me identify Premier set

If this is a "Made-in-England" Cabria, they all came with RokLok tom mounts/holders.
Premier still makes this mount and they're easy to find in the used market, too.
If 22/10/12/14, it'll be a...

Re: Help me identify Premier set

A lot of information about these drums have already been posted here.
Read through the thread and compare those points to your drums.
Should give you your answer.
If not, re-post and tell us about...

Re: TOM TUNING

Could be that you simply don't like the sound of pinstripes.
At this point, it might be wise to take one drum and see if a different head would sound better to you.
Since the Pinstripe sounds dead...

Re: TOM TUNING

I don't know what Bob is telling you guys, who use his video, because I'm happy with how I tune my drums, but did you pull all the tension off of both heads on each drum before you went through Bob's...

Re: SNARE TUNING

Yes, that's much better.
Thanks.
I'm not going to say it's not your kit, because I don't know to what degree you want/need to hear these characteristics, so I'll leave the option of getting another...

Re: What's your Favorite fill from a song!?

Was reminded of another one earlier, but does one hit equal a "fill"?

Re: SNARE TUNING

Scott,

"I dont' like it at all. Anyone have any ideas..." is kind of ambiguous.
What is it about the kit that you don't like?
Is it the ergonomics of the kit?
The sound of the kit?
Both?...
