Re: New Rogers Snare Drums.

I've played three new snares recently.

Absolutely loved the 14x5 as it was crisp and sensitive and had a great tone. I loved it. I wasn't that keen on the 14x6.5 though, didn't quite do it for...

Re: Political music

It does work for us, even if it's not actually an intentional thing. We're not a 'political band' but will that stop us commenting on things we don't agree with? No.

I dont agree with you that by...

Re: Political music

But again the artist/band chooses what they put into what they create.

Personally speaking one of our songs that is a Social/Political comment is our most popular song. It’s not something we set...

Re: Singing Drummers

I don't really think about it too much, if I'm doing backing vocals that day I just have a mic stand to my left either facing down or up.

The exact setup however is normally dictated by the space...

Re: Are your bandmates interested in your drums

In the studio they especially take an interest, especially when choosing snares for each song and I also like to include them and hear their opinions on drum parts in the rehearsal room.

They...

Re: Political music

Here's the thing. Music is a form of expression.

What really grinds my gears is when people tell musicians/actors/people in the public eye not to have opinions or express themselves and to stick...

Re: What is your least favorite concession you made in your set up?

I thought like his until I got one, I had enough space to fit it in as the pedal link was very adjustable. Needed one for a song with the intent to use it in the studio and then sell it after the...

Re: It's official! I'm a Metal Head!

I think you're going to need a new kit for this gig, Bo. Natural maple finish doesn't quite fit this genre.

Maybe food for thought for further down the line.

Re: LOUD brushes. How?

With brushes in that scenario I guess some it can depend on your technique and the brushes you use, difficult to judge without a reference video to look at.

However, burying the brush into the...

Re: Since Hal Blaine has passed.....

Good to see you Duncan!

Talking of Pink Floyd Jeff Porcaro also played on ‘Mother’ from The Wall.

Pink Floyd's drummer Nick Mason didn't play on this track. According to Roger Waters, this was...

Re: Bernard Purdie vs Tony Allen

He's a great drummer, his earlier back catalogue is well worth checking out but hopefully the posted link was a good taster.

Re: Rhythm magazine

Very much expecting that theyíll be no more London Drum show now with the team at Rhythm out of jobs.

No one left to organise it and no publication to promote it.

At least we have the U.K....

Re: Rhythm magazine

It is indeed.

Drum! For example has recently gone from a monthly publication to a quarterly one now so there must be a good reason for that.

Obviously another struggling industry thanks to...

Re: Rhythm magazine

The next issue is the last ever one. Both print and digital are gone from what I've heard.

Truely gutted. What with the closure of Drummer Magazine, after it was bought by Rhythms parent company...

Re: I saw "Bohemian Rhapsody"

Two changes just didn’t sit right with me, which I alluded earlier in the thread.

The way his dad was portrayed, in that he was disappointed/disapproving of Freddie’s music career and...

Re: Canít hear my kick!

Use to play in a band with guitarists very much like this, the problem is it becomes the norm and almost accepted.

For example the songs they wanted to soundcheck at venues were the...

Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

Ah that’s cool. Sounds like it suits you and is comfortable.

.....Eh?

Maybe just admit you fancy another change. I say go for it if it’s what you fancy trying.

Re: I don't understand why people close mic

I've got experience recording both close mic and with the Glyn Johns method in two vintage professional/high end studios both times with the same producer/engineer.

Room Mic/Glyn Johns method was...

Re: Why is jazz drumming still so dominant?

For me, it's still visible as it's the pinnacle of our art/instrument.

You have to be a great technician and have an even better/sympathetic ear for the music around you.

Also with Jazz you're...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Info Needed.

Nick's great, if there's any leads on them he'll be sure to know but I seem to recall him saying a while back that there was no one producing them currently.

Fingers crossed that's not the case...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Info Needed.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as I have the exact same issue.

I know 'Nick Hopkin Drums' had a supplier a while back and would occasionally get a very low amount of wires every so often,...

Re: Current drum trends you wish would go away

I dont really have any gear peeves but the one that does grate is drum gear videos where someone talks for the most of the clip/over the audio of the product the video is supposed to be promoting.

Re: Kick Snare & Hat

Whatever the music calls for. There are no rules.

Non drummers aren't going to care/understand what gear I'm playing and I'd certainly not worry about a drummer in the audience getting "kinda" mad...
