Re: Another "is this a good price" question (DW Collectors)

I am in Canada. I bought a 5 piece set of DW Collectors a few years ago for $700. 10/12/15/20+14x5 snare in a dark blue lacquer.
They were beat up...cosmetically. After new heads all around, new...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Ahhhhh! Forgot all about this. Beautiful, Jason!! Nice touch with the SoCalMike-supplied (no doubt) cover plate as well. It looks fantastic - you're pleased with the results?

I love my cut-down...

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

Anybody else notice the 13x14 tom has a gazillion lugs ?
Marching snare re-wrap methinks.
Doesn't really matter, just an observation….

Re: The best kits we've ever made - Honest Capture videos!

Maybe take out a few words and change the title : " The best drums ever. "
I didn't like big sizes until this video with that stave walnut kit. Now I think I need that set or at least a set with...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

Me too.
As others have said, need has little to do with it.

Re: Should I get this snare?

I have had Black Beauties and Supras, but for my buck, the lowly 8-lug, $100-on-ebay, aluminum Acrolite or Blackrolite is the one that suits me best…probably because I prefer wood snares overall...

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Just wanted to reiterate that the spurs, while light duty, are fine for the drum…the only problem with them is that they don't work that well specifically on a Club Date shell, because of the very...

Re: Microscopic damage! Grrr!

Bo, I was going to mention this before but I don't think you ever had a Rydeen shell there to begin with.

In pictures you've posted, I saw that the drum had rectangular lugs with flat tops, a...

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Ahhh, I get it. Great tip, thanks!
I'm going to try and see if a pair of the Dunnett gull wing spurs fit these, would be a nice little upgrade. Your trick would still apply I think…

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Yes, absolutely. The spurs suck, and they don't fold up nicely either, because the loonnngggg tension rods prevent them from folding up close to the shell. Makes it a bit difficult to put into a bag....

Re: Ludwig Club Date for $499

Insane deal. I got mine on blowout for $625 - 12/14/20 in Ruby Sparkle and felt like I stole them for that. They are a great gigging kit, especially when I don't want to bring one of my lacquered...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Matched stereo pair of Josephson C42 small diaphragm condenser mics.
Excellent for overheads, both live and in the studio!

Re: Broken Down Tama Royal Stars - What to do?

ZipCity, if you're in Ottawa and you want to get rid of them quickly, go and see Dave at Dave's Drum Shop, (390 Gladstone - near the corner of Gladstone & Bank, next door to Spaceman music) - he has...

Re: Why aren't Recording Customs popular today?

I dunno, they seem to still be popular around here. There is a lot of competition, that's for sure. I think people tend to hold on to them maybe?
I just got an email from a friend yesterday - a...

Re: Ben White I'm impressed

Yes. ^^ Exactly.
What happened to George? He doesn't do videos anymore for MDS or MyCymbal.
Peewee Jackson was also a killer player.

Re: Live Custom 18 Bass

Cool, yeah I don't really play bebop or use high tunings with any of my drums; I play lounge jazz and some latin type stuff but I'm usually in the low to medium tuning range. I'm sure they sound...

Re: Live Custom 18 Bass

Yes, I own one. No lift, no cut out on hoop, no nothing. Spurs and a tom mount, that's it.
Just a good sounding bass drum, especially with a PS3 batter :)

Re: Gretsch Stave Snare WOW

Played the Gretsch stave last night. Small bar gig, played all 70's rock (theme night). It was really great for this kind of music.

Snare was punchy, fat and crispy all at the same time. Guitar...

Same here. I've seen/touched/played brand new Hybrid Maple and Stage Custom kits just last week....up close and checked them over thoroughly. Fit and finish was excellent. Yes, even on the Stage...

Re: Gretsch Stave Snare WOW

Yes, lost twins I'm sure!
I'll be gigging mine tonight with my MCAN Copper sparkle kit 12/14/20. I did install Puresounds on the Gretsch last night - standard issue on almost every snare I own,...

Re: Gretsch Stave Snare WOW

Wow. Bruce, it's like we share a brain or something.
Earlier today, a Gretsch stave snare 6.5 x 14 in barn board finish appeared at my drum shop. I hadn't intended on buying a snare today but holy...
