I realize it's picky, but gaskets really bug me aesthetically. A drum should be a holistic entity in my mind, with a bunch of elements resonating in tandem. The visuals also scream "engineering"...

"Influence" is such an interesting concept to me. It can be conscious or even subconscious. I also think drummers can be influenced by other types of musicians, or even other types of artists...
