Re: Headphones and electronic kits - bad for the ears?

Are you using in ear monitors? They're the only thing I can use to make sure I don't get any ringing. I use either foam or custom moulded plugs on them and I can have the volume at around 30-40% and...

Re: What drum manufacturer?

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the badge would you? That'd probably make it easier to give you an absolute answer :)

Re: How do you manage to transport hardware without having it all in one super heavy bag?

Re: Groove essentials

The best way to work yourself up to a higher tempo is to use a metronome.

Work out how fast you can play it comfortably,
up the tempo by 5bpm,
when you feel comfortable at that tempo increase by...

Re: Gospel stuff..

I can really recommend Mike Johnston's Linear Patterns book, it's great for people just starting out with linear patterns, but also great for people with experience who just want inspiration. I...

Re: IPAD or Paper Drum TABS

Personally I'd go with the iPad now, because it saves me a lot of space and means I don't lose any bits of paper with important drum parts on. Plus you can get attachments now which allow you to...

Re: 3 against 4 polyrhythmic version of Stick Control

Congrats on getting the lesson shared by VF, Daniel!

I just checked it out and it's a great lesson and a great concept - I'll have to give it a try next time I practice!

Re: The Positive Post Campaign - Mike Johnston

I couldn't agree with you more!

You never know how much negativity another person has had to endure and one more negative comment could be all they need to give up completely, something positive...

Re: Where do you place your drums in your room?

Mine are facing straight at a wall as there's not much space in my practice room, but I do agree with you, I used to have them facing out into the room and they just sounded so much.....bigger I...

Re: Possible to convert a 12" tom to bass drum?!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Planning to have a mess around with mounting the Tom low down on a cymbal stand at 90 degrees and I'll see what happens!
I'll have a look into the cradles that...

Re: Ways of Practicing Improvisation/Solos

The link that Anthony Amodeo just posted to a Benny Greb lesson is one that helped me out a lot - in fact I think his 'Language of Drumming' DVD is great for helping to build creativity which I've...

Re: Buying new drum kit - mid-range price

I think any of those kits would be a great choice that you'd be happy with. But if you're a 'pearl guy' why not stick with the pearl?! I sold my pearl kit and bought a Sonor 3007 a while ago - great...

Re: Possible to convert a 12" tom to bass drum?!

That's what I was thinking...it would have to be a fairly tall riser I guess (if such a thing that would be suitable for a 12" tom even exists!)

I'm not particularly bothered about the sound, it's...

Possible to convert a 12" tom to bass drum?!

Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever tried converting a 12" tom to a bass drum. We've all seen 16" floor toms used as bass drums and I've seen the odd 14", but I'm currently at uni and...

Locking in with the bassist (cd/DVDs?)

Hey,

Does anyone know of any CDs or DVDs or book packages that focus on 'locking in' with the bass guitarist? What I'm really looking for I guess, is something that has lots of bass backing tracks...
