Need some tips on a ~67 Ludwig project

I recently ebay/frankensteined my way into some 67 Ludwigs. Great drums, and they're working well for me. I'm at the point now where I'd like to do a bit of work on them.

To start, I have a hunch...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Another one. The only drum setup that I care about is my own. If you want to run flat Travis Barker toms, so be it.

To me it's like putting ape-hangers on a motorcycle. It might be anatomically...

Re: 10 Great Drum Albums...Random List

This is hard. Mine is not my top 10, or even in order at all, just 10 great drum albums:

1. Mutemath- Odd Soul (awesome drum sound, very progressive)
2. Greenhornes- 4 stars (my favorite garage...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I experience the exact opposite over there. This isn't the first time I've heard about that mod though. I honestly just find myself intimidated by this forum sometimes. If I need serious advice, I...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

Drums are scary to buy. I almost always get a touch of buyer's remorse. Maybe it's because I purchase with emotion in mind, I'm not sure. No test ride, (if I could jam with a band before purchase I'd...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I think that is the honest explanation of why I struggle w/ jazz too. I can appreciate the standards, but when those guys start messing around in 11/19 time and running their mixophrygian scale my...

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I occasionally post on r/drums. I lurk everyday though. I'd just rather read than post.

I do the same here. I just lack the commitment (and knowledge) to be a steady contributor.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I'll start off with one that'll be fighting words for some of you:

I think Neil Peart is boring. He is technically impressive, but he lacks something... I really can't describe what.

I've...

Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I completely stole this idea from Reddit (user swimshoe) mostly because I wanted to see how it would play out in a different styled forum (they upvote posts to the top of the page, so you read the...

Putting together an Ebay kit

I know that most of you probably already know this, but I just thought I'd reiterate. BUY USED!

Re: Any pre gig routine?

I always try and listen to some jazz before I play a gig. It's not really to "pump" me up, but it just gets my mind thinking in that tight jazz pocket throughout the day.

I "TETRIS" my stuff into...

I heard it's a 42 strander also.

I didn't know how he was doing it though. That is pretty neat.

Re: Drumming styles on a sliding scale

I played metal for a couple years, enough to get my mind wrapped around it at least. I think that a real metal drummer definitely feels an emotional connection (soul) in the music.

Personally,...

Re: Drumming styles on a sliding scale

. I hadn't really thought about chops/groove when I was posting, or when I was having the discussion.

I think that regardless of any style of music, a good drummer is going to play as tastefully...
