Re: What makes it real?
Some have talked about manufacturing differences and ageing so snobbery isn't the only reason, though buying positional goods is a national pastime ...
I'd agree that that motivations are often...

Re: Drumming someone to sleep :-)
The way I see it, it's about whether you can create a lullaby with drums, and if so, how. This would also border on meditation music too. Drumming to relax rather than excite.
The key with any of...

Re: Decisions decisions!
Would I be right in saying there's a conflict of interest? It would seem that the Spaun, being a larger kit with a bigger bass drum, is better suited to the classic rock the band plays, but that...

Re: Are we too hard on people around here?
Yes you lot are cruel ... that's why I'm here.
Tell me about it. There are a multitude of dead threads where my post was the last. I boiled it down to:
1) My post covered the subject so...

Oh gawd, not this again lol. Ok, just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons here's a "oncer" - just respect me in the morning, ok?
At the time Anon La Ply seemed better than Anal Pylon and Annoy...

Re: Musical artists who's death saddened you.
Many of these people died at a time when I wasn't paying attention to the news, or at a time when I didn't care for their music, or at times know about their music.
John Lennon was a big one....

LOL - well played. Thanks for your message too.
You and 8-Mile ... I still have to hand it to Bill Bruford :P That Neil bloke ... well, he's 1000 times better than me so I can't criticise but,...

Re: Funny Drummer Chart
Larry, I agree that Pocket's work is luminous, like a sheet of glass in front of a light. It lets us see the light. Not everyone can do that.
But still, it's a ripoff. What do you expect from a...

Re: Funny Drummer Chart
There ya go. The tasteful use of space. No ego-driven overplaying, no mindless beating, no cliches - just intelligent use of space a la Cage. It's a statement. Kudos Xdrum.
Pocket, no offence, but...

Re: Busy or steady drummer?
Great track ... except for that overly flash and abstract fill JP does to lead back to the quiet passage after the solo's peak. It's like they decided to stick a bit of Buddy Rich in there for fun or...

Re: Why are metal drummers looked down on?
I prefer jazz and funky drummers for sure. I like the dynamic range and swing/groove. Having said that, I doubt many drummers disrespect metal drummers. I sure don't. Some of the things they do are...
