Re: What do you think ? Starclassic bb

for me that would be a little high. But if that's the kit you like it's not a bad deal, just not a steal. I bought my Birch starclassic performers 5pc used from a guitar center in Fla. (I live in...

Re: The new acquisition - walnut thermagloss!

Very nice Bo. I remember drooling over a kit like that in a store around 82 when I ordered my SL series kit. The sizes were smaller though. Really beautiful.

Re: Cany someone explain the variations of the Starclassic line?

I just have to comment on the cheap Birch statement. You know that cheap wood that Yamaha Recording Customs are made of. I have performers made in Japan all birch. I love them every bit as much as...

Re: Ludwig 75th Anniversary Kit

That's right. Also the seams on the covered drums would be on the front of the kit. As a lefty I hated that. The bolts that tighten the toms to the holders were on the back side making it difficult...

Re: Good buy in San Antonio

Man that is a good deal. They look to be in really good shape too. I've got a suspended 14" tom, and I prefer legs after having one. It's not a big deal, but if I had the choice it would be with legs.

Re: Drum brands you just cannot warm up to? Even if you try

Sonor, Pearl. and Mapex. These drums just don't get me excited. I know that they are really good drums, there's just something about them that doesn't click with me. May as well throw DW in there...

If so, please let me know. I planned on this kit being my final choice of percussion...

Re: How many have matching snare finish & brand with rest of kit?

I have a Tama Birch performer kit and lately I've been using the snare with it. The last 2 Yamaha kits I've owned I used a different snares. I didn't even buy one for my BCAN kit, was using a 60s...

Re: Tama Superstar HD

I've never played either kit, but I've owned both brands in a higher up models. The Yamaha stage custom is really liked by most everyone. Both make good drums and hard ware. The thing with the Tamas...

Re: fans that are quiet

our bass player uses a squirrel cage fan. It moves a lot of air, and is quiet.

Re: My new Mapex Armory kit

Ok I don't normally like Mapex and the Armory kits I've seen do not impress me. Your kit looks great. I really like it. I'm not around head phones now so I couldn't listen to them. Very nice though,...

Re: Vintage Yamaha 8000

I must agree. I bought a power tour custom kit in 88 and still have them. I use them for rehearsals now. Mostly because I don't like the deep tom sizes any more, but they are great drums. Your kit is...

Re: Vintage Yamaha 8000

I have 88 model Power Tour Customs same shell design as 8000. I've had them in some pretty adverse conditions over the years and they're holding up great. No ply separation or anything.

Re: Which Tama kit should I buy?

I bought a used Starclassic Performer all Birch kit made in Japan for $750 and I couldn't be happier with it. I've always wanted a performer kit. It's every bit as good as my flagship Yamaha Birch...

Re: New-to-me Tama 80s Tama Swingstar Snare

I had I believe in 82 model Royal Star kit that came with a snare that looked just like that one. I don't know anything about the quality of it however it sounded pretty darn good.

I remember watching some of his videos. he explained things so I could understand what he meant. Good drummer, and down to earth.

Re: Who has to play to a click or backing track live?

I don't like playing with a click. However I think it's because I'm not use to it yet. I've used them in the studio when recording about 3 or 4 times. I used it for a little while before recording,...

Re: DrumDial Bearing Edge Conditioner

I have a 88 model kit that I put paraffin wax on the bearing edges back when they were newish, maybe 1990. I got the idea from a Ludwig catalogue that showed someone applying it. It seems like I...

Re: Where Do You Fit? - Poll

I'm a semi pro I guess. I've been playing nearly 50 yr. now. I've always worked a full time job and played in bands on the side. I definitely get paid for it. There have been many yr. when I wasn't...

Re: Drumless Version.com anyone?

I second the karaoke version. I've bought a few songs from them and they were very acceptable IMO. Not original but pretty good. I don't understand your problem playing along with the original tracks...
