Re: Kenny Aronoff with John Fogerty

Yes, they did Old Man Down the Road, Centerfield, a new one he co wrote with Billy Gibbons, which was a nod to La Grange in style. Mostly they did CCR, too many to recall exactly. I do remember Born...

Kenny Aronoff with John Fogerty

Last Saturday morning the girl friend won 2 tickets for John Fogerty performing that night at the White Water Ampitheater, in the heart of the TX hill country, and the heat of a Texas summer night. ...

Re: How to shake that tambourine!

Softer than you're inclined to and preferably in time.

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

#austinreggaefest

Played Friday, had a blast. Backline guitar amps were a JC120, Deluxe Reverb, and 4x10 Deville.

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

Well, you don't know me, that much is clear.

Look, I get it they 're common in some styles. Play what you want to play through. As for making me feel better, debatable.

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

Ah, one guy says I'm fortunate, one gentleman feels sympathy for me. Whatever. Most working, pro guitarists don't use 8x12 rigs in clubs, but there's always exceptions. Btw, Eclipse, I'm (the band...

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

I haven't seen a guitarist bring a "stack" to a gig in 40 something years.

Re: MB's Random Question Thread

I'd recommend several homework assignments. First, learn the cheap and pro cymbal lines from the big 3 makers. Common advice is to avoid the cheap lines.

Zip over to Memphis Drum Shop, and also...

Re: The thing you bought but you never use

KAT drum pad with DW5000 drum trigger pedal. An ebay purchase. It's kind of cool. I never use it.

Re: Noob first snare paralysis

Dry, crisp, cheap, utility. I feel like I got all that with a used Acrolite, but I prefer more medium tuning.

Re: Ever have a fear of selling your drums?

I recently had a CL ad up and experienced about 8 instances of people saying something like this. " I would like to buy your drums and can meet this evening after work. I'm very interested, please...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Ah, my bad. In any event thanks Merlin, will work on that.
I looked for the interview, couldn't find. Maybe it was Black Friday, that's another difficult one, and love the wicked intro fill on that....

Re: Jeff Porcaro

I read/saw an interview where JP was saying he was growing frustrated trying to nail "Reeling in the Years." He took a break, saying they'd be better off with another drummer. Fagen and Becker came...

Re: New thread or resurrect the dead?

Yes this happens, it appears to be an Android issue. Advanced search option works fine for me though.

Re: How many different Brands do you Use?

Drums- Gretsch, Pearl, Premier, Ludwig
Cymbals- Sabian, Zildjian, and 1 Paiste
Hardware-Tama, Gibraltar, Mapex, PDP, Made in China no-name

That makes 13. The joys of CL shopping.

Re: Proper way to list drum sizes

There is a common use to standards, as well. Mechanics might refer to a bolt as a 13, meaning the head size, the size of wrench needed to remove, and also the clearest way to identify the bolt. In...

Re: What are your bass player priorities / red flags?

Experienced and accomplished is pretty much the opposite of what you want. Oh, ok. Followed by murky comments about his lack of grit. Don't blame the guy one bit for his response. You asked him...

Mr. Frigursson,
Excellent selections! In addition I would add Yes Fragile, Genisus The
Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Return to Forever The Romantic Warrior.

Re: Round vs. Saddle throne?

I don't notice any bounce in the Roc N Soc pneumatic saddle type throne. It is heavy and bulky for transport though.

Re: Boring Kit Colours

I agree with Tommy D, add in chrome stands, and under lights, a black kit looks as classy as any. But the black hardware fanboi seems to be a rare breed, and for good reason.

Re: Can you find me a use for this drum bag?

Zipper, the Achilles heel of many a soft bag. A couple of bungy cords might come in handy. I'd upgrade my percussion bag out of it. After that didn't work I'd toss it.
