Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

Just to update, last Sat I put a brand new EmperorX on my 402.
I have all 10 tension rods (batter side only) replaced with Tightscrews.
The tuning was midrange pitch and with the EmperorX it...

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

I tried my 402 with an EmperorX last Saturday. It really thickens up the sound no end.
I've always loved CS Coated heads for snares and the EmperorX is no exception.
I actually sold my old Rockstar...

Re: In defence of multiple toms.

Hey, I'm now in a band I actually look forward to rehearsing with - and that hasn't happened in ten years!!
I don't know what it is, but sometimes I can't even wait to get the 4 piece fully set up...

Re: In defence of multiple toms.

I've been using a bop sizes four-piece lately. I do miss the second rack tom, but just having a 12" rack and 14" Floortom actually sound nice, is a joy.
I've never played out with more than a six...

Re: DW irritation

In 2008 I spent a lot of time on the VDrums Forum - when I got my Roland kit, and it was really helpful and useful. EDrums is a whole different set of problems and solutions and took up a lot of my...

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

Yep, suffice to say the Tightscrews are all that and a hefty bag of chips.
I heartily recommend them for any problem snare.
My mid/lower-but-never-flabby-tuning held up through a whole first set....

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

And you've upgraded to "S" hoops too I see!
I just have a new stock 402 bought from Thomann a year ago. It was either the 402 or an Aluminium Starphonic. I'm still wondering should I have gone for...

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

Neat tube lugs!
I'm going to trial the 402 tonight at a gig, with the Tightscrews (only replaced all ten on the batter hoop)
I'll let you know how they hold up.

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club Street

Hi folks

I'm seriously considering one of these.
I recently converted my old Premier 16x16 floortom to a kick using the Pearl Jungle Gig adaptor, and have been using the 12 & 13 toms on cymbal...

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

Perhaps it's the Supraphonics?
We all seem to suffer this problem, but everyone puts up with it for the truly great sound!
Not so keen now on locknuts.
I've forked out for a set of 20 65mm...

Re: Need some help with my Ludwig Supraphonic snare !!

I have the exact same problem with my 402, also I have to tension it unevenly in order to get all lugs musically in tune with each other.
This makes the detuning-while-playing problem even worse....

Re: Ludwig Salesman Kit

I just saw one of these yesterday in my local proper drum shop.
I'd get one if I had the cash. You'd never be overlooked at any gig again!
