Re: Top 5 Metal Snares

Another vote for AK snares. I really like my 6.5x14" Standard Copper Snare.

Re: "Museum piece" kits

Sometimes it makes sense to keep an item in pristine condition for future generations to enjoy. I have no problems with unplayed kits.

Re: RUSH retirement rumor

I first saw them in Regina, Saskatchewan with their new drummer; some guy named Peart. I liked their first album with John Rutsey but was willing to give their newby a listen. Neil stole the show!

Re: RUSH retirement rumor

Time to go out on top and do new things. Thanks for the tunes; I really enjoyed them in the 1970's.

Re: How to make my vintage ludwig sound better

To get a warm sound out of your drums, try Earthtone calf skin heads. You will be amazed at how much these warm up your drums.

Re: If you were sitting behind my kit.

22" or 24" ride Cymbal. Have you heard the cymbals Matt Bettis is creating? Check out his stuff on eBay. His 24" ride replaced a Spizzichino in my set up.

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

I think it is a pretty good deal. I like the wrap too. You can always change the wrap down the road (e.g. Precision). It all comes down to whether it really is a 9/10 or perhaps 6/10.

Re: Going to Istanbul!

A city I Love. Check out the Grand Bazaar and ask around. They will know someone but they will also know the market value of the good ones.

Re: 40th Anniversary of Physical Graffiti - How Cool Is This?

Has it been 40 years? Where did they go. I bought the album as soon as it was released. Read about it in Circus magazine too. Still love "Down by the Seaside."

Re: Do you own (or want to own) both acoustic and electric kits?

No interest in electronic kits. They have their place and are well played. I just don't see Charlie playing them.

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

I have a copper AK snare which is very, very nice. I think that this copper Ludwig snare will be a good seller given its distribution network and Ludwig's reputation for first class snares.

Re: Carlock in, Phillips out

I was a better drummer than him in 1976; but after that, he probably would have beat me in a drum solo contest.

21 years! I guess it's time to move on. Thanks for keeping the beat Simon; Keith will get the job done. What next Simon?

Re: Carmine Appice Lobbies For Led Zeppelin Drum Spot

He needs the money.

Bad choice in my opinion.

But he's a much better drummer than me.

Re: Need Help with New Kit - From the Ground Up

Buy used. If you are patient, you can get great deals. The problem many face is they buy entry level drums, play them for a bit and then look to upgrade. They take a loss but proceed anyway. Then...

Re: Keep an antique set safe for the travels

Antique is usually 100+ years; you have a vintage (and very desirable kit) if it is a round badge Gretsch kit.

The best way to look after it is for you to look after it before & after gigs,...

Re: Vintage Snare Drum Collectors?

Wow! Now that's collection (as opposed to an accumulation) of snares!
