Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

I believe (and certainly hope) that that's part of the marketing, etc companies responsibility through their network. I don't actually know that for a fact though, and will ask now you've brought it...

Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

Hi, thanks so much for all the replies, you're all really helping me with perspective, so I'll try and answer as many of those questions as possible (without too many specifics I'm afraid - I'll get...

Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

Would that still be the case if it was 20% of every subsequent album as well though, and every other future penny earned except through publishing? For no further involvement or investment, and...

Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

Interesting figures, that's part of the issue for me at the moment, I don't have the comparison figures for a record company. That said, the issue with this investment is that for a one time...

Re: PEAVY builds drums?

Yeah, bobby rock had some insane publicity photos with an enormous peavey radial kit if I remember rightly.

A music college I used to work for had 3 peavey radial kits (did they make any others)...

Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

Drumeatdrum, some excellent points and exactly why I posted this.

I do have a small slice of publishing, we agreed a deal on that when the band formed as we're aware of the potential of that. :)

Re: UK Record Deal/comparisons

That's pretty mch my thought. The argument is (which I can understand) that they're taking amassive punt on us, and so if we do get anywhere it'll be largely down to the initial investment. I'm...

Re: Justin Bieber's Drumming...

Let me firstly say that I cannot stand Justin Bieber, and obvious he's at best a mediocre beginner drummer.

However, do bear in mind that he probably doesn't choose to play drums all the time - he...

UK Record Deal/comparisons

Hey,

I'm after a bit of advice, in particular from anyone who's been/is in a band with a record deal (preferably major), or any particular knowledge in this field. If anyone has an opinion but...

that's great, thanks for all your replies - I will do some research on those, any more ideas welcome.

I agree with you all wholeheartedly about drum books re-writing notation, it's such a pain. ...

Re: THE DRUMMING DICTIONARY.

incidentally, that rhythm (and commonly that voicing, but it can be any) is also know in the UK as 'Flats In Dagenham' (pronounced: DAG-UN-EM for anyone who isn't sure).

And on a related note, a...

Re: Most portable drumset

The only one I've played at a gig is the Taye seen above in mind_drummer's post. Don't get it - way too shallow and quiet - particularly bass drum.

It was fully miked up, but was just too small...

Re: Thomas Lang

Anyone can make the time if they try hard enough. He's an incredibly motivated guy, knew exactly what he wanted and put in the hours to get there. I knew a guy who used to live with him back when he...

Hey,

Actually I thought long and hard about it anyway - it's been a slow process of my opinion changing on him on I'e questione things a lot. I agree with you entirely, I know that's waht the...

Re: Carter Beauford

I've unfortunately actually started to go off Carter recently I'm afraid, but I will try to justify that before I get shot down:

I first heard DMB about 2 and a half years ago, and was absolutely...

Re: Derek Roddy (You gotta see this guy)

I think he may have alreay been mentioned here, but I must say that even as a non death-metal/etreme metal fan I'm a big derek roddy fan.

It's the one and only thing I find a little strange on...

Re: Ear Protection

Well good luck with the auctions. At the end of the day, there's a reason why weckl, jojo mayer and pretty much everyone else uses shure. Plus, I think the ec2's look cooler than the molded anyway...

Cool, sorry I misunderstood! I didn't know you could get them that cheap actually, that's good value - particularly if they're good as you say. I'm lucky, I landed a couple of decent gigs with BTs,...

Re: Ear Protection

XeroX,

Cheap earbuds do work pretty well - the cool thing about isolation earphones is that they cancel out most eternal noise, like an earplug, and inject the click or whatever right into ear. ...

MFB,

yeah - everyone else I know loves them too. I'm pretty sure they were the right size, I think it's me - the pointy bit that sits outside just annoyed me, and one ear tende to work it's way...

Re: Ear Protection

it's funny, after a couple of years of trying to find the right earplugs I've just gone back to straight forward foam ones!

I did like the etmoyotic research ones, they're good. I wasn't impresed...
