Re: Which Drumkit?

OMG pls pls pls get the Pearl Vision. I was always a Tama/Gretsch person but after playing their Masters/Vision series, I think I'm more of a Pearl type of guy now. But don't get their hardware cause...

Re: The Paradox of Choice: Gretsch Catalina Birch? Ludwig Accent / Centennial? Premier Cabria? GMS S

lol according to what I know, aren't the kits in that price range manufactured in taiwan or something?? which is somewhat closer to thailand than to USA. Anyways, I love Ludwig Classics, but I wasn't...

Re: Mid Range Drums for playing metal?

Yamaha stage custom's toms are excellent, but that's to be expected from Yamaha. But the kick is a little weak. It lacks the solid "thud" sound I was looking for, but that could be because of the...

Re: Superstar (Hyperdrive) laquer/wrap, X7 or Catalina Maple?

Personally I love Tama SC, but Tama Superstar is another story. Their high end kits are good but I'm not really a fan of their semi-pro kits. I mean the drums aren't bad. In fact, there's this dude...

Re: looking to buy, good deal or no?

hm used 6 pc Catalina birch usually cost less than 400$. The hardware is worth <100$. So 500$+ for a custom A cymbal pack. I'd say for everything, price should be around 850$-950$. Man on CL, he...

Re: Need Your Opinion On A Trade

ur drums aren't worth that much, but the cymbals are worth alot. The hardware is worth alot too, maybe like at least 500$ if u sell it altogether.

Re: Metalcore drum help.

Though I don't really like Ddrum, I've heard some good things about their kits in the price range from 700$ ish - 1500$, like dominion maple or dios. Though I don't really like the kits u listed....

Re: Need help with new drumkit

lmao Yes Starclassic has a few bugs on some kits. But my friend's kit didn't have any of that problem. Of course Tama can't make all drums with perfect quality like Yamaha, but Starclassic series...

Re: good drumset?

Re: Need help with new drumkit

Tama Starclassic :D. But If ur getting Yamaha, might as well get maple. The Oak is just a little too loud for me, unmic'd. By the way, don't starclassic performers cost around <2k5$?

Re: Yet another tuning post...

Use moon gels or Drum gum. Also Don't forget to not tighten the strainer too much. Oh yeah even with perfect tuning, there'll always be some overtones. Drum muffling helps making great tunings even...

Re: looking to get my first real kit soon....

No point getting Ludwig Element. It's probably one of the last things I'd get due to the high price. Also, among other kits in similar prices, it doesn't really shine that much.

Re: Drum Size Effects

I have a 16x16 floor tom. I'd say it's almost as loud as my kick, but it has so much more resonance and the tone is very warm. It's very responsive, even to the slightest touch. But then again my...

Re: Sonor s classix or Pearl reference?

Pearl reference is a top-notch kit, one of the best sounding kits ever. But they're very pricey, totally not worth it. But if ur one of those rich guys, then go for it. Pearl put alot of time and...

Re: Need help picking out a present

The 200$ ludwig costs around 450$ new, with crappy cymbals & decent hardware, I think. I've played those, surprisingly good for a cheap starter kit. Also, try searching for Yamaha Stage custom or...

Re: Need help picking out a present

You should avoid these concert toms. And finding a good, not abused vintage kit with low price is pretty hard. The first kit looks alright, no big huge damage or anything but the pics are kinda hard...

Re: looking to get my first real kit soon....

675$ for a shell pack thats a little above the accent series, really not worth it man. Don't get me wrong, Ludwig Element is a great kit. With good tuning, good heads, It'll sound better than other...
