Single pedal user here. The music I play is based on single pedal, or the voice, but don't limit myself not to play double pedal. Actually at the moment I only have a single pedal.

Your correct I meant the downbeat. And the bass drum phrase accenting the downbeat works, You got to know where the 1 is, but anything goes as art goes, even omitting than accent....

You can probably hear the drummer do this a lot in some James Brown tunes. A lot of this in the funk music genre.
