Re: Mike Bordin

He's great, I've only recently discovered him. He plays really hard which I like! Though his style is influenced a lot by Dale Crover in my opinion. They have similar drum sounds and chops I think.

Re: Bass drum accuracy

I've been drumming for absolutely years, and only recently I have noticed my footwork slipping. I don't get to practice as much as I used to but recent recordings definitely show this up.

Has...

Re: Drinking and Drumming

I believe Bonham used to improve by the pint judging by some Zep DVDs... I however, even after one drink I tend to forget whereabouts in a song I am and therefore go into the wrong section.

2 Ltr...

Does anyone still make large kits?

I have come across a few, including the Gretsch Catalina 24,13,16,18 - I don't want to go any smaller than that - and that is a good kit, I just want to know if there are any other equivalent kits...

QOTSA - No One Knows help

Does anyone know if there is a technical name for the fills that Dave Grohl uses in No One Knows during the chorus? People have been describing it as a triple flam but there is no flam involved, it's...

Re: Dale Crover

His drum sound is incredible as well, does anyone know how he achieves it? Particularly on the "Stoner Witch" album... Been trying to replicate it for a while, especially the snare sound.

This is...

Re: making faces when playing

This is who I came in to mention. Some unbelievable faces he pulls, even in the simplest of beats.

Re: Identify this snare

He just sold it for 35. Someone walked away with a complete steal here I think, since the hoop alone is probably worth that.

8 lugs though, that's what threw me... It must be a lower end...

Identify this snare

Hi a friend of mine is selling this snare drum that he picked up a few years ago. The badge has been removed because it's been covered with a cherry sparkle wrap. It has 8 lugs, and has a Tama throw...

Re: die cast or triple flanged? help!

sorry to dig up a really old thread again, but I am about to sound like an extreme amateur and potentially unworthy of owning a BB.

I bought my Ludwig BB second hand, so was never sure what hoops...

Re: dissapointed with my snare

In my experience, you have to tune it lower. It won't sound nice to your ears, but once it's recorded it sounds amazing and you can do anything with it. Cranking it right up gives the engineer...

Re: sorry but i have to, BIG DRUM KITS

Good post I agree.

I do know what the thread starter means though, particularly with recording bands. A lot of young drummers discover things like the double kick, and totally ruin every song with...

I've literally just been in a meeting, one guy was eating his sandwiches and I could hear his jaw clicking... I preceded to use this as a metronome for the basis of the beat I was playing with my...

Re: Are Metal Drummers over-rated?

well I'm sure there are a lot of good original metal drummers, but with the majority, for the most part, when you've heard one, you've heard them allllllll.

Very boring over use of double kick,...

Re: Worst idea in Drumming

I really like the big deep toms! Don't understand the hate?

The ones that really bug me are the ones that are like 12 x 8 - they look like weird snare drums. I'm a fan of the bigger beefier tom....
