Re: Steve Gadd's Birthday
8Mile,
That's a great album, the Mad Hatter. I don't know about you, but my favorite on that one is Humpty Dumpty, the track which really turned me on to Steve Gadd. Maybe it's me, but I don't...

Re: Akira Jimbo
Last December I was fortunate to attend a clinic by Akiro. Does that man ever enjoy playing the drums! He was amazing. A very genuine and down to earth person as well. At the Q & A portion, he was in...

Re: Question about drumming and dancing
Larry, if your drum to dance ratio is 100/1 you're probably a better dance than I. sure, I have rhythm, but the dance floor isn't the place for me to show it. I just don't know what I'm doing when it...

Re: Underrated Drummers
Thanks Flams for the nod to Roy Burns. He was very big on the local jazz festivals in Orange County, Ca. when I was young. Great drummer, teacher and human being. I was fortunate to meet him a few...

Re: Under-cooked chops?
Every once in a while I like to take that risk. There's that rush that comes from "not playing it safe." Please don't get the wrong idea here - I don't treat gigs, the audience, the song or my...

Re: Two Drummers, One Band
With a few exceptions, I'm not much of a two drummers/ one band fan either. But as stated by Skulmoski and Polly, a drummer and a percussionist? Oh yeah...

Re: Requirements for stage clothing
It will be said yet again - depends on the gig. I'm yet another of the jeans / "good" black tee shirt. I'll upgrade to a black polo or a solid white or black button down, sleeves rolled up and...

Re: Concentration whilst playing gigs
Nothing fancy here, Nealio. Just getting there with plenty of time to set up, get the levels and hopefully relax a little before the start of the gig does wonders.

Re: Which came first- the chicken or the egg?
I agree with the thoughts posted by Polly, Larry and jer. Yes, the drummer has at least some creative input, but the level of experience of the bandmates, how well you know and read each other comes...

Funniest post in the thread. Good one azrae 1l.
Now to answer the question, I should have gotten in here around post # 6 or so. A shot of Knob Creek and a beer with the others.

Re: Break it down
Sometimes I chat for a bit after a gig, but I generaly get to breaking down right away. First sticks, then mics and cables followed by pies and then the snare. Next is pedal, toms, hardware, throne...
