Re: Chad Smith

I think the things Chad has going for him in my book that makes him an incredible drummer are the little nuances he does while playing. Things like tasteful ghost notes on the snare, ghosting on the...

Re: creating drum parts for songs

Haha for someone who's learning to figure out how to create drum parts, using extreme experimental music as an example might be found confusing!! But I'm digging the Lunar Satellite tunes :)

Re: creating drum parts for songs

I agree with this x10 Mike. It seems like many people seem to think there is only one way to play a certain song, and if you don't play it that way you are an overplaying heathen. I mean I completely...

Re: overusing ghost notes and grace notes

Re: Consistent rim shots

I also use the kind of "hit the rim and let the stick bend to the head" thing. I've done so many rimshots they are basically instinct, so if I want one, I have one.

Also, I think an obvious but...

Re: Left foot independence.

I achieved a fairly great amount of hat independence by looking at where the left foot parts are played in a groove or whatever and working on them very slowly and carefully, once you get a couple...

Re: Hihat feels too hard and tight when hit. Tips?

What kind of hi hats are you using? Perhaps they are too thick for your application?

Getting ring in a snare drum?

Hey guys. I've been experimenting with some different snare tunings lately, and I've got a sound that I like alot. The thing is, the snare's sound is not ringy enough in my opinion. I'm hitting...

Re: Bass drum batter head tuning/muffling?

Thanks, I've had that same philosophy about tuning, but I've never really got to see to what extent messing with the batter affects the sound out front. I've had my tuned the same way for quite some...

Bass drum batter head tuning/muffling?

Hey guys, I was experimenting a little with my bass drum tuning today, and after messing around with different tensions and reso-batter relations I found that I still prefer reso a bit higher than...

Re: Chad Smith

Man this guy is up there on my favorite drummers list. He's got some of the best groove I've heard in rock music, it's pretty incredible, and he's stays deep in the pocket in any song I've heard him...

Re: Are there still alot of single pedaller's out there?

I for one think it's fun to be a single pedaller among many double pedals and double bass players :) Nothing's more satisfying then having everyone looking behind your kit to make sure that you are...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

My problem used to be left food independence, which I have down pretty good now.

I still have problems with my left hand though, it is not close to as good as my right. And my soloing isn't very...
