Re: Mixing Brands Drums/Cymbals/Hardware

I'm two to three months away from placing an order for a Sonor SQ2 kit, which I'll be adding my current 9000 Series DW hardware to, along with DW Direct Drive Pedals, and as for cymbals, my Paiste...

Re: New Pearl Masters Maple Gum Video Review

Sensational.

Pearl has come a long way from how I remember them back in the day. The last video you posted on the Pearl Masterworks 8-Piece Stadium Drum kit, was monumental, both in the way of...

Re: A truly bizzare dream

This in keeping with the dreams I have, off the wall.

My guess is, Gruntersdad, ate the guy for lunch.

Re: 10th Anniversary Cast Bronze Sonor Snare Drums

Indeed I did, Sir. Sound-wise, I liked it, but depth wise, I felt it was too much.

Re: 10th Anniversary Cast Bronze Sonor Snare Drums

That's what I said when I came across DCP's video, minutes/hours after they posted it! Thanks, VT!
It's definitely going to a good home, Inc! :)

Thanks, DV! I'm committed to ordering a Wood...

Re: 10th Anniversary Cast Bronze Sonor Snare Drums

Indeed it would. I'm not setup for sound/recording, but nonetheless, I'll do a basic comparison between the two when the new drum arrives.

Re: 10th Anniversary Cast Bronze Sonor Snare Drums

Apparently, DCP, has one less 10th Anniversary 6.5x14 Snare Drum as of this morning.

Simply eye-watering.

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

Nah, don't ever think that way. Life is short, do the things you want to do, and buy the things you want. We're here for but a limited amount of time.

10th Anniversary Cast Bronze Sonor Snare Drums

Limited to 10 a piece, check them out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_nOJ1EecKI)

While dear in price, for those that fancy metal snare drums, they look like a dream.

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

Is the outer shell, maple, with a specialty stain and lacquer, or is it a finish ply? So hard to tell with the reflection.

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

Beauty! Supreme colour and finish!

I was visiting DW's site a few days and couldn't help but notice how scant their Exotic Woods line has become. Compared to a few years ago, DW, offers very...

Re: Funny thing about my first kit

I started off with a 4-piece Maxwin kit (age 9-10), and was ecstatic. Truth be told, my folks were poor and spent nearly all of their tax-return that year to see a kit through for me.

A...

Re: DW Snare Drums?

I don't buy into the hardware argument. Melt down the hardware on a DW drum, then melt down the hardware of other popular brands, and my guess is, the end result would be so close, it wouldn't...

Re: DW Snare Drums?

You captured the essence of a brass snare drum perfectly, and as for the bell bronze, it's loud, really loud, and does everything the brass drum does, but the brass drum provides a more refined sound...

Re: DW Snare Drums?

I've always gravitated towards metal snare drums, and having never played or owned a 6.5x14 snare drum, I splurged and spoiled myself with two DW Collector Series 6.5x14 Metal Drums.

Top drum is...

Re: Mounting toms on bass drum vs virgin bass drum

I definitely see where the logistics behind more gear doesn't make for an easier or better setup for those on the go. Being the home-based aficionado that I am (no tear-down or setup/transport...

Re: Mounting toms on bass drum vs virgin bass drum

Virgin BD's all the way.

Having owned kicks with tom-mounts my entire life, next kit will consist of virgin BD's with a rack system.

There seems to be a whole lot of fuss that exists over lugs...
