Re: Best Drum Set For Under $500

Bummer. But it's still a good deal.

I see these killer deals every couple months. Last time, a couple months ago, I saw a deal for a 5 piece Premiere APK set for only 300 bucks. I'm convinced...

I know, huh?

I really need a new gig set too. Maybe if this is still available Friday...

Re: Best Drum Set For Under $500

This is the best deal I've found this week...Ludwig Element

Tell me that's not an excellent deal.

Re: Endings

The guys in my band always like to put a button on a song after the ending. One final cymbal crash or triplet on the floor tom.

Re: Another "Back in the Saddle" thread

Of course, video evidence would be the preferred method. Knock 'em dead.

Re: would you buy a ludwig accent drum set...

I agree. For Ludwig, it has to be Element or better.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Got a pair of New Beat hi hats for sale for anybody in the local LA/OC/SD area.

If you're out of the area and want them shipped, you'll have to PM me on how to go about doing that because I don't...

Re: Timing test

You can use the space bar on your keyboard too if you have one. 902 is pretty darn good for clicking a mouse.

I'd say anything over 850 is pretty good.

Timing test

Got rhythm? Follow this link and test your timing. I'd say mine is pretty average.

Re: Why Musicians DON'T Deserve to Get Paid

True, everybody thinks they're great! Just look at the Match dot com type of sites. They all claim to be "good-looking", when in fact, it just isn't the case. I'd venture to say most are very plain...

Re: You and your practice regimen, come clean

I feel that I get enough practice on the kit during the week jamming with 4 different bands, but I have two pads at home that I never touch. I should practice on them more though because I do have...

Re: Less Playing = More Kudos

This got me to thinking. I know what you are saying about the snare rolls, but didn't remember hearing that at the end of each measure. Now I know why...

The version I've listened to the most...

Re: Less Playing = More Kudos

Ok. We just started playing Behind Blue Eyes. What kind of approach would you take for a song like that? Because we all know KM never took a less is more approach. That song is practically all drum...

Re: Less Playing = More Kudos

I agree. Especially where cover bands are concerned. It's like I do a better job when I don't try so hard. I thought I was playing "less is more", but even less than that turns out to be even better....

Re: Less Playing = More Kudos

A fine example, but he had such a creative approach to this simplicity. That's what made him so awesome.

Less Playing = More Kudos

You know how drummers are treated in a band, for the most part? Well, I'm no different, I get it too. And sometimes I get a little perturbed at a couple band mates now and then, so I say to myself,...

Re: Pork Pie Big Black Snare question

That thought also crossed my mind. I've always used a 16 strand myself. I know he used a Supra too, but BoB might accommodate a 42 strand.

No, I didn't remember until you mentioned it. Then I was...

He did, huh? I've heard that once before. Thanks.

BigG, I'm sure there is a snare wires thread in here somewhere, but I heard/seen clips that explain and show the difference in sound between using...

Re: Pork Pie Big Black Snare question

I never even figured I should be looking for something else in the drum that wasn't already there. But now I am interested in what a wire change can do to this drum. What kind of wires did Bonham use?

Re: Drinking and Drumming

At the place where we do most of our gigs, they give us only a two pitcher allotment of beer for the night. That ain't much when you have 10 people in the band. The band mates always get Bud Light,...

Re: Better to buy a used fully set up kit or go parts at a time

I would get a good snare first, then some hi hats and a good hh stand. You answered your own question.

Re: Pork Pie Big Black Snare question

I have a BoB too. I changed the stock batter to an Aquarian Texture Coated 1 ply with a reverse dot. I haven't changed the reso yet, but I'm thinking more like using a clear Diplomat (2 mil) because...
