Re: Best Intermediate Drumset?

There are already many threads about this topic, but I would recommend the PDP Concept Maple 5-piece shell pack. Great sounding drums. The pack is about $730, but I assume you would be able to find...

Re: Ready to buy new kit. Need advice.

I would personally go with a 20"x14" or 16" bass drum, with 14" being my first choice. It's a really good in between size. Good for pretty much any style. Floor tom: I would probably go with a 16"....

Re: I made it into the jazz band!!!

There were just a couple different sections of things that we had to play. The first part was on a drumset, just a quick (faily hard) jazz beat. The next section was on the bells, or xylophone, I...

I'm so excited!!! I think that it's going to be a big part in helping me get better. Being in one of the high school jazz bands has been one of my goals since 7th grade. And I did it! Yes!!!!!!!!!!...

Re: How To Set-Up Drum Set??

Most likely. I don't use a rack on my set, but I definitely think that a rack would be more expensive.
And how much money are you willing to spend?

Re: How To Set-Up Drum Set??

Oops, i didn't see the no remote hi hats part. I'm sorry to tell you, but it would be almost impossible to get a hi hat there without a remote hi hat stand

Re: How To Set-Up Drum Set??

Well, it looks like you can have 2 toms mounted on the bass. The smallest tom could probably be mounted to the first cymbal to the left. For most of the cymbals, just use boom stands. For the...

Re: Jazz Band Tryout

You should have a really fun time in jazz band. I'm actually still waiting to see if I made the jazz band or not. My school starts in 2 days, so I'll probably find out any time now.

Re: Peavey Radial Pro 501 for $180?

So my neighbor went over and snagged them. It was an amazing deal!!! The set came with Sabian AA hi hats, a nice Gibraltar kick pedal, Roc-N-Soc throne, B8 ride, Remo heads, and the drums were in...

Peavey Radial Pro 501 for $180?

So I have a neighbor that has found this set on craigslist. It comes with all of the drums plus a Sabian B8 ride. Judging from the picture he showed me, it also looked like it came with a nice throne...

Re: Will un-even bearing edges bend hoops?

The bearing edges on my 13" tom actually is off by about 1/8. Luckily I don't even use that drum. But when I did use it about a year ago, it would go out of tune in about 2 days. You know, maybe I...

Re: Will un-even bearing edges bend hoops?

I wish I could get a new one, but it would take me years to save up for one... And at the moment, I'm more in a cymbal crisis than a drum crisis.

Re: Will un-even bearing edges bend hoops?

I know how to tune my tension rodds evenly, so that's probably not the problem. But it does make sense if the tension is different at each rod that it may warp it.

Re: Will un-even bearing edges bend hoops?

No, my drum set is an old Peavey International 2 series drumset. And that's why I don't want to get the bearings edges re-cut. It would just be a waste of money. I probably just need to get a new set.
