Re: Mic'ing a kit in a small venue

there's really not much need to mic a kit in a small venue. i've seen crowds diminish in a matter of seconds from cats playing too loud w/o mics

Re: Tomas Haake - Bleed. Could it be played single pedal?

Well to clarify these are not triplets, they're the hybrid rudiment hertas phrased as thirty secod notes/sixteenth notes. The figure is in 3/16, two thirty second notes and two sixteenth notes and...

Re: Actual Proof..killer funk groove

Thank you for the feedback! I'm trying to work on developing my solos more after listening back, to save the more showy stuff for the climax of the solo.

Re: The non-metal double bass thread

Gary novak has some killer DB chops. His solo in the tune "Final Frontier" off Chick Corea's Elektric Band II album "Paint the World" would make even the most brutal double bass drummers drop their...

Re: How to become a 'local' drummer

Well as a student in high school you are pretty much limited to the students in your town and neighbouring towns. But try and get involved with as many projects bands as you can and just do some...

Re: Flaming Drum Sticks

I'd say try to achieve a similar effect without using fire at first. I know that vic firth has some neon light sticks that are somewhat pricy but are relatively high tech. Anyways, as badass as that...

Re: Your legacy

I definitely would regret it! My life goal is to leave behind my music through recordings and albums. I find it spectacular, that great art will survive long after the musicians have passed.....

Re: Gretsch Catalina Maple

The catalina maple is awesome! I've played with many types of bands with this kit, and I still am and it's holding up for every single one! I currently play in an alternative rock group,...

Re: How many cymbals have you cracked/broken/split in your drumming lifetime?

Re: Could you help with Evenness?

Metronome, and since your principle instrument is guitar(?), then practicing drums will help rhythmic control but rhythmic control for drums itself is also influenced by your stroke, having a solid...

Re: Practicing till fatigued

that makes sense, you don't wanna overdo it and on the quest for speed, a good break is good so your muscles can sink in that strength and memory.

Re: Looking for "extra special" double bass pedal mastery

Check out Derek Roddy's book, not only is it good for metal grooves and blasts, but your bass drum consitency and speed will improve and your independence/interdependence will as well.
