Re: Gary Chaffee PATTERNS: Your experiences and

Vinnie is also the reason how I ended up finding out who Gary Chaffee was in the first place. Sometimes when I listen to the CDs that come with the book, I hear something that Gary plays and go,...

Re: A REVELATION.

Yes, Jojo talks about this in his Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer Part I DVD, and he explains it very well. By the way John, I have put your Rhythm book on my wishlist, going to get it soon!

Re: I'm overwhelmed

Hmmm... if you have worked through Riley's books and still don't know what to play, then I'm sorry... I think you approached it the wrong way and you merely just played through the exercises without...

Re: I'm overwhelmed

Ok, if you are just starting out in jazz, stick to Riley's Art of Bop Drumming and get as proficient with the material as you can. You need to spend at least a year with the bulk of the material in...

Re: I'm overwhelmed

I agree, forget YouTube for a long while actually. By doing that, you're eliminating a huge source of the stuff that's making you feel overwhelmed.

Re: I'm overwhelmed

The Drum Also Waltzes PDF Transcription

Hey guys, here's a little something for all of you. I recently transcribed this wonderful piece because I want to learn how to play it but couldn't find a transcription of it anywhere. I've gotten a...

Re: A REVELATION.

Ok, sorry... I misunderstood what you wrote.. so you were agreeing with me, yeah. But I guess it would make sense to have the snare at a somewhat neutral angle if you switch between matched and...

Re: A REVELATION.

How so? Tilting the snare like this allows the stick to be almost parallel to the head/rim. It's something that I picked up from the Jojo Mayer Secret Weapons DVD. Honestly, I think tilting the snare...

Just do a search for "Praxis: Music Practice Journal" on the App Store. The name of the developer is Enlightened Minds.

Re: how to use Stick Control

I've used spiral bound notebooks in the past but recently I've turned to apps to save money on books and mainly to reduce clutter. I used to use an app called Musician's Practice Journal but...
