Re: Merry Christmas!

Now I have visions of DLR crooning Xanadu. Bippity bop, diddly do...sacred river Alph.

Re: About to buy a Gretsch Catalina Club kit...

I can answer the first question...Yes, the Renown hardware is significantly better than the Cats. From the lugs, to the mounts to the hoops...everything is higher quality.

I don't have much...

Re: About to buy a Gretsch Catalina Club kit...

The Gretsch Renown bop kits look and sound great. A 3 piece will cost you around $1,100 new. Probably twice the cost of the cats, but my experience is they’re better built with better hardware all...

Re: Doc Sweeney drums

If you're looking at a similar product, check out Unix Drums too. I have a Unix stave bubinga snare that is amazing. I've played one of their full sets as well and was equally blown away.

Re: Doc Sweeney drums

I've seen a lot of Doc Sweeney stuff on social media and it looks beautiful and what little feedback I've read is positive. But, if someone else is building shells for them, that kind of bugs me. ...

Re: New for Ludwig in 2019?

Re: No GAS

This years onslaught of Black Friday emails and social media posts was over the top. To the point that I now have ad fatigue and no desire to look at ads for a while. It’s like tums for my GAS

Re: Between 3 kits....

Good point about lack of add ons. I’ve heard of spider cracks in the Renown finishes. Especially the sparkle ones.

Not the sizes you were looking for but I've played these and they sound really, really good.

Re: Between 3 kits....

The Marquees drums are solid drums for the money, but I've seen a couple of sets in store where the build quality wasn't on par with other lines in the same price range...particularly when the...

Re: Between 3 kits....

This is the time of year for sales. You should keep an eye out for higher end sets that fall into your budget range.

Re: Geeking out a little!

Yeah, those sound good! The toms work perfectly together and the bass drum.

I’m using Evans UV1s on top w G1 clear on the bottom and love the sound. Open like a single ply head but meatier...

Re: Geeking out a little!

Are you going to do a video with these like you did with the other USA set? I'd love to hear them. Especially to hear how they differ from the other set. I can't get enough of the stop sign badge...

Re: NDD: Gretsch Brooklyn Cream Oyster

I had a set of Super classics with the maple/poplar shells and agree 100%. That shell layup had a bite with great tone behind it. They sounded untamed...similar to what I hear with...

Re: Best Drum Album of 2018

Have you seen them live? If not you gotta check them out live. I first saw Clutch maybe 20 years ago. They were opening for Slayer. I had never heard of them, but after that I went out the next...

Re: I'm thinking about staining the inside of my Pearl SSCs... Am I crazy?

Pearts drums were sprayed with fiberglass on the interior of the shell. (Vibra fibe is what it was called) That's what gave them that pink/rose tint.

I wouldn't want to risk messing up the...

Re: Back to the future!

Bo, I see you're selling the BD spurs in the Gretsch FB pages. What did you upgrade to? The ones in the pic look similar to what you're selling.

The ones on my SSB are flimsy and I want to...

Re: Back to the future!

I hear you. I sold my New Classics and bought a 70’s stop sign badge set from Steve Maxwell’s and I’m in love with them. There’s truly some mojo there. 14x22, 8x12, 9x13, 14” and 16” floors. They...

Re: Back to the future!

Yeah, no kidding! I live vicariously through Bo and his roller coaster of drum sets.

Bo, as a Gretsch fan I'm glad to see you back to drinking Gretsch Kool aid!

Re: A sad day in Seminole Florida

Man, that sucks to hear. I basically grew up hanging out and working in a store like that...it was there where I took lessons, bought all of my stuff and landed a job as a teen. Shops like that can...
