Re: Sonor Select/Ascet x DW Collectors.... (seriously)

I'd go for the DW Collector's personally, but does mean you will only have drums and no hardware....

Re: Vater Sticks

I switched to Vater this year from Vic Firth.

I find them a lot more durable than the VFs. I use to always chew up the tips of my VFs but since moving over Vater there has been no wear on the tips...

Re: Birthday present dilemma

Practice pad, sticks and copy of Stick control? (less than 80)

Or if your just wanting to spend money on your kit, a new set of heads? (80, depending on how many drums)

Or if you just want...

Re: Peter Grant

Perhaps not one of his finest moments, but one that I always remember is when PG, Bonham and their head of security hospitalised a venue security guard for pushing PG's son.

The story goes that...

Re: Zoom Q3HD Video Recorder

My guitarist has one and we have been taking it along to gigs recently. The sound picked up from it is really good, but the video is so-so. Especially with the lighting issues others have pointed it....

Re: FINALLY got my new Ludwig Centennial Zep Kit!!!

Very nice!

I too have the Ludwig Centennial Zep kit. Waited absolutely ages for it and ended up taking the black lacquer because Ludwig couldn't give me a estimate date for the natural maple, and...

Re: Seeking kit with 26 bass & natural laquer finish

Has the centennial line been discontinued?

I picked up a Zep set in black lacquer the tail end of last year.

Re: kick beater flutter thread no 1001

I have had this same issue now, moving over to an un-ported head. I don't know what it is, but it seems to be more noticeable in bigger rooms.

Been causing me quite a bit of frustration to the...

Re: Offered a gig, don't know what to do!

Sounds like a really tough decision as you are kind of jumping in the deep end. i.e. first real covers band.

You should always go with your gut instinct on these sort of things. Every Saturday for...

Re: What would be a good way to do covers? No money to buy mics or equipment.

Cheap cheap is you could use your mobile phone camera or a normal camera but that is likely to sound horrible.

Unfortunately, its going to be expensive to record yourself at a decent standard as...

Re: Premier is back in the US!

From what I read they are now made in the UK. A boutique drum company bought them over/was bought over and are now producing the Premier kits.

Re: Does your band OVERPLAY?

Space and dynamics are the two most important things in music I would say.

I play in a blues trio and I wouldn't say we overplay. The guitarist does get his solo, in almost every song, but thats...

Re: Hardest Led Zep song on drums and why

I'm finding Black Dog to be a bit of a struggle. Even just trying to count in the riff is quite difficult.

Re: Ludwig 400

I have this problem on my 402. Its where the rim shots are struck. I have tried LugLockerz and whilst they keep the rod tighter for longer it still needs tuned up every couple of songs. I've been...

Re: Any advice for the first gig?

Definitely have plenty water during your set and try not to drink too much alcohol before/during, (although maybe one to calm the nerves if there are any)

You may also want to bring a towel/change...

Re: Lefty Drummers

I'm left handed but play a right hand set up. As a kid I also learned to play guitar as a lefty but found that buying guitars was a pain as only certain makes/models would be made for lefties, which...
