Re: Vintage Kit Taboos

Nothing makes me happier than someone who isn't afraid to mod their instruments. Whether they're vintage or not. Whatever gives you the sound and feel you're going for!

Re: Bar bands, what's more important...

I say making the crowd feel good. I'd rather play decently to a pumped up crowd than perfectly to a bored one.

Re: Reason why no Keith Moon type drummers exists on main stream music

Re: Funny Drummer Fails

I once had a stick fly out of my hands and hit our singer in the back of the head. After the song he looked back at me and said into the mic, "If you don't like my singing you should've just said...

Re: Why do people treat their drums so badly?

My drums get banged up pretty regularly. I can't afford cases at the moment. I don't sweat it though. They still play fine. I've always loved seeing instruments with battle scars.

Re: How do you go about learning songs?

I listen to the song and play what I hear. That's it really. If I can't get it that way, I watch live videos of the song being played and watch the drummer.

Re: Drum Dial-Tell me the truth

They get you close. I just had our bass player teach me how to tune, he's primarily a drummer and has been playing for longer than I have. He can tune without hitting the head, he'll tighten the lugs...

Re: Bass Drum: Pillow, or no pillow?

I don't put anything in my bass drum, but it's a 20x14. I tuned it to a very soft sound with no muffling.

Re: Music you don't listen to anymore...

When I was 13 I loved Death Metal. Now I'm about to turn 16 and listen to Alternative, Indie, Classic, and Punk Rock. Favorite bands used to be Cannibal Corpse, Death, Morbid Angel, etc. Now it's...

Re: How do people get your attention when practicing on your home kit?

When my set is at home, (it's normally at our singers house, where band practice is held.) It's in a shed off away from the house. I don't get interrupted.

Re: Drummers are athletes

I disagree, I'm fat and have asthma and feel fine after playing for sometimes 2 and a half to three hours. I hit fairly hard too.

Hunching forward?

Is this bad? I do it pretty much anytime I'm sitting behind a set, after a while my back begins to hurt, will this lead to problems later in life?

Re: Drummer Boo boos :)

One time at band practice, while playing our heaviest song, I hit myself in the forehead right before the end of the song. They all saw it, so right the end of the song, I started bashing my forehead...

Re: Have you ever gigged or practiced without a bass player?

I've never gigged without a bass player, but have practiced many times without one. I remember when our band first started out, I was playing bass and our singer's girlfriend was playing drums. She...

I love both! I love my current set, Ludwigs wrapped with Blue Oyster Pearl, but I would love to own a natural maple set.

My band has a very simple stage set up. I play a 4 piece set with hats, one crash, and a crash ride. Both guitar players and bass player use small-ish combo amps. PA set up is 2 stand speakers and 2...

Re: Is there a polite way to decline help setting up your drums?

Our bass player helps me set up, but he's a drummer too, actually better than me...If a non drummer were to try and help me, I would just say, "No thanks, I got this."

Re: Drummers who have influenced you

John Bonham
Dave Grohl
Patrick Carney
Ian Vanek

Ian Vanek is kind of underground, he plays for JAPANTHER, look them up if you don't know them. Cool Lo-Fi punk band.
