You don't tune a snare the same as a tom or the bass drum. The resonant head is never as tight as the batter.

I was thinking the same thing! I'm a little lost too. Out of all the shells you listed Birch is the cheapest!

You have give a lot more info here like sizes number of peices and what drum Comp....

They are also harder to tune and keep tuned.
What wood are you talking about? Maple I'm guessing.

The old DW's used Keller 6ply shells. If that helps at all. I personal think the thin shells...

I had this problem! It was the stupidest thing. It was the mic. Try switching the mics and see if does it on the other bass.

It could also be that you are hitting one harder then the other...

I would have to say Chad Ronald Sexton. He plays with 311. The older 311 stuff is really good I have played with him and he is a really amazing drummer !

Evans Adjustable Dampening EMAD !! That is the best head that I have found! You can adjust the Dampening with the rings on the outside of the head!
