Re: Mom and Pop Drum shops

It's funny that you mention that! I was just in there the other week getting heads.
Shane is definitely an awesome guy, you can't go wrong there.
Considering you know of there, I assume you might...

Re: Favorite metal drummer?

Blake Richardson of Between The Buried And Me without a doubt.
So underrated. It's a damn shame too, especially when people are sitting here giving props to drummers just because they can play fast....

Re: Are Metal Drummers over-rated?

Not all metal drummers are created equal.

Re: Most Underrated Drummer - Male + Female?

I have two guys in mind, and I'll provide links to songs they've played in so you guys can hear them if you haven't before.

Steve Clifford of Circa Survive.
I see no love for him anywhere outside...

Re: Underplaying

If a drum track fits to the music, then underplaying and overplaying don't exist. It's just playing.
Take Circa Survive's drummer for example. His drum tracks are ridiculously complex, but they...

Re: Observations of what the different sexes look for in music

i don't think sex has anything to do with it.
Many people look for music that's heavy on vocals because thorugh vocals they can relate. Whether it be to a situation, a person, or just an escape for...

Re: Why do you play drums?

Making music is one of the only things that satisfies me. Honestly, it's one of the only things that makes me truly happy. And whats the point of life other than to be happy?
That being said, drums...

Re: Best drumming album of all time?

My buddy went to a clinic of his and apparently Pridgen knows little theoretical knowledge, he plays based mostly on feeling.
Feeling music is definitely the most important aspect of drumming with a...

Re: Drum idiosyncrasies

All my drum head logos have to be in the perfect 12 o clock position from where I'm sitting.

I think that's the only major one.

Re: Best drumming album of all time?

Oh, my bad. I don't know much about the Mars Volta, I only recently started listening to them.
Thanks.

Re: Drumming when it's hot weather.

I hate playing in anything but shorts, it's just really uncomfortable. I'll usually wear a v-neck too just so I can stay as cool as possible.
I also play barefoot too, I can't stand the feel I get...

Re: Steve Clifford

Well as far as I know there is no 5/4 in Frozen Creek, but Steve is definitely adept at playing in multiple time signatures. Most of Circa's Juturna album is in 6/4.
And Mandala is awesome, the...

Juturna - Circa Survive (Steve Clifford)
On Letting Go - Circa Survive (Steve Clifford)

Steve pretty much owns these albums. His drumming so technical, but far from over the top. It's just really...

Probably one of my favorite drum tracks ever. Steve's one of my favorite drummers, but I'd really like to hear what other people think of him.

Steve Clifford

I did some searching and didn't come up with anything, and it made me wonder, where is the love for Steve Clifford?
Steve Clifford is the drummer for Circa Survive, and honestly, I think he's...
