Re: Left hand finger technique

I never saw a drummer have so much impact on drumming technique like Jo Jo Mayer since his dvd came out
Matt is right when he said drummers dropped all they know to switch to Jo Jo's technique

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

i see Jeff's point but i also see Matt's point

who ever is fastest in a a 10 second hit should...

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

Jeff's point is if a drummer has a record for 60 seconds but is slower than a drummer that can play a 10 second hit
in a solo the drummer playing the 10 second hit is really faster in a real solo...

Re: What do you play in a drumstore to impress the guys from the drumstore?

rootheart would probably be a horror story if Dennis Chambers or Weckl walked into a gig he's playing
very bad way to think

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

what jeff almeyda said i kind of agree with
runners are fastest at a 40 yard dash not one mile
a min hit at 1200 beats is a super feat but drummers don't play single hits for a min when playing a...

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

I can see what you guys mean
a single stroke hit is probably about 5 to 10 seconds in any drum solo exept for some of Buddy Rich endings of westside story solos but Buddy doesn't play that fast on...

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

you really have to look when the clock says nine or just before 10
when you see 10 it's really eleven that's how fast the numbers spin
you must do a 10 sec hit to really see
the person was just...

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

great for art but tom did not do any 10 second hits at all inthat video
the person that guessed where tom was in the 60 second thing was way off at 222
those numbers fly and the only way to know is...

Re: Art Verdi's 10 second speed record? Hang on...

Tom only did two 60 second hits
one was 1194 and the other 1156
That was a guess of the first 10 seconds
It flashed 222 but my opinion was 207
No 10 second hits were done on this video

Re: building speed

A lot of drummers feel to play fast you must always practice fast
I always felt that speed follows control
To get control of the sticks one must start out very slow and build

Re: building speed

Finding out how your hands are working and practicing super slow is the answer
Most drummers are practicing always at high gear and don't have a clue what's realling going on with their hands...
