Re: Something refreshingly different - gig report - video

Beatiful kit and nice footage, defiantly must have been quite the experience.

Re: What should I expect from 14x4.5

Played it a little yesterday and today. Quality is great as usual per Yamaha. It took me a little while to tune to something I liked cause I have played 6/12 to 8 in deep snares mostly for the last...

Re: Buying a used set ?

Old Hyde is right. Good cymbals and hardware are just as important as the shells. To answer the question other than aesthetics you want to look for cracks in the shell, warping, stripped out hardware...

Re: Setting up a band - tips; dealing with people

My opinion is take some control but share in expression. I feel that every member of a band should be allowed to let some of there self come through into the music. Obviously they have to be within...

Re: Premier Snare (ID and thoughts)

It is a wrap I believe and will do. And really if you shoot me an offer feel free as I am not quite sure on the value of this snare.

Re: Premier Snare (ID and thoughts)

Thanks for the info. I would think the parts are original as the owner was a one time owner. But I may be wrong. My only concern about the snare is lack of strainers availability because pure sound...

Premier Snare (ID and thoughts)

Hello, I have had this snare for quite some time sitting in a case but with no use cause I wanted to change the head out. It came with a kit I bought and I know the Yamaha kit was from the 80's but...

Re: Drummers that overplay

I agree with this. I hate seeing drummers that just play fills just to play them. Im all for a couple extra good tasteful fills throughout the set but not just sporadic ones that don't make sense....

pink floyd time heart beat? Anyone programmed it?

I wanted to program this heartbeat sound using my octapad, but being how you can not really load in sounds on it has been difficult. Iv been messing around with the tuning and muffling features on...

Re: Mounting my drums kills sustain

On the yamaha yess mounts, in case this has not been sorted out, the old ones punctured the shell and the rod goes into it. On the new drums the rod does not puncture the shell. I currently have 2...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

If it were not for name recognition based off what I am hearing that seems like the case.

Re: DW Performance vs Yamaha Absolute Maple

I can not speak for the performance series because I have not played it, but the absolutes are great drums ( I own a set). The above description of Yamaha kit being more musical does seem accurate to...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

I do agree that showmanship is a big part of the competition but watching more of the guys who made it lots of them are really good. I still am debating on entering even if its just to have some fun.

Re: Best drum kit for studio

As said earlier if those are U.S. prices that is really really high. A stage custom even from $650-$800 new any day of the week without really looking. I think the drumcraft kit should be about...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

Thanks for all the input. Yeah I have to agree most of the winners are really talented, along with a lot of the people who don't win. I just was not impressed with the people I saw at the one I...

Re: Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

Thanks. I have been thinking about it myself. I kinda feel like off what I saw at mine that I could do alright minus the showmanship. I have energy and can do some stick flips but nothing crazy. It...

Anyone ever compete in the GC drum off?

I have watched one by accident locally and seen a bunch of vids so I wondered if anyone here ever competed. If so what was the experience like for you?

Re: Some indie shops not trying hard enough?

If I owned a store, which one day I hope to, somehow I would do exactly what you said. I don't understand how a small business can compete with guitar center etc.. unless they provide a better...

Re: Why do folks use "handles" on a musician forum instead of their real name?

This is the truth. I avoid a l lot of fb post because of this. You can not completely censor yourself but having less attached to your name is better. Employers look at fb pages to see what type of...

Re: I'm a human drum machine

I felt this yesterday night. My band played about 40 songs and Id say roughly 30 of them they could have easily used a drum machine, but as you stated it lacks human feel (First and foremost),...

Re: The "look" of a drum kit...

I think the looks of a kit defiantly matter but mostly to who is buying them. I also think a nice not necessarily expensive kit makes you look more professional on stage. For me I have a love for...
