Re: Beginners practice regime

Again, like others have said, get a teacher.

Your practice regime looks pretty good to me(but I am just relearning drums myself). A teacher will give you proper guidance and direction with the...

Re: Cheapest "pro" kits

Its a matter of personal opinion of course, but if you shop around perhaps you could find a used Tama Starclassic Bubinga/Birch for not much more than the prices you listed there. I compared the...

Re: Ridiculously oversized kits

In an interesting aside, he remarked on one...

Re: Ridiculously oversized kits

I completely agree with this, to each their own. I recently bought a 7 piece tama starclassic b/b hyperdrive kit. Not only do the quality of drums exceed the quality of my eighties hack level of...

Re: I can't do double stroke roll! >=[

Keep looking for a teacher. I am not saying that someone who was not formally trained can't be a good teacher, but maybe the odds of getting a good teacher are better with someone who was formally...

Re: The aging musician

Age, at least to an extent, is a state of mind. Of course we slow down physically as we age, there is no denying it. But our youth centered society is making things ridiculous. The fact that so...

I had no idea Fred Young could play like this, I only knew his playing from the Kentucky Headhunters songs that they used to play on the radio.

Anyway thought this was a cool solo, maybe I put...

So how best to bring it up to speed? Play open handed? Dom's book? Exercises?
