Re: Ain't no more fun...

And this is why I ignored my parents and played footy on Sunday mornings, rather than be dragged to church.

Re: Ringo's Drumming: Harder Than It Looks

He, really, really isn't. Something that pretty much any Scouser will attest to.

Re: When you're in charge, which songs ...

I'd ban You'll Never Walk Alone three times.

Then have Gerry Marsden shot, just to make sure.

Re: Musically, what are you involved with at the present?

1. How many bands are you in?

Two that I actively gig with, plus occasional sub slots when I have time.

2. What kind of music does each band play? Instrumentation?

Band 1 - 24hr Motown...

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

Nobody seems to have gone into the cape/wizard's hat combo.

Re: Is it just me?

It is much easier said than done to be carrying more than one batch of cymbals. These things are bloody expensive, especially when you're talking the HH/HHX/A Custom/K Custom end of the market. I'd...

Re: Moody Blues’s Graeme Edge: A Responsibility to Play the Hits

I do like the story of Neil Young playing a gig, and playing solely his new album in its entirety. At that point the album hadn't even been released. At the end of it he announced "And now I'm...

Re: Anyone Use Ear Muffs? (Peltor)

I use Peltor to rehearse in, although at times it can sound like I'm playing under water. Ise use plugs on stage though - Peltor's just don't quite have the aesthetics for wedding gigs.

Re: (How to cope with) Drums at University

Find a rehearsal room with storage facilities. I know here in Liverpool most rehearsal space have places to store equipment for around £10 a week, and will hire rooms out fairly cheaply to solo...

Re: Mic'ing a kit in a small venue

We obviously had crossed wires. For a small bar, I'd only mic the bass drum for a bit of extra oomph.

Re: Mic'ing a kit in a small venue

Not at all in the over powering stakes - I'm not a hard hitter, at all, and tend to get lost in the mix. The venues we play are generally 200-300 people, so kit micing is right for us.

Re: Mic'ing a kit in a small venue

I do it, because it means I can concentrate on the groovem rather than hitting harder to cut through the mix. Its a seven piece band, with brass section, so finding a voice unmiced can be difficult....

Re: Drummer Sweat

I carry a small fan with me to gigs, especially during the summer, which I set up behind me and have on while I'm playing.

Re: Best Way To Get Sponsored?

Cheers Bermuda. I might give it a go. I just don't want to end up with some exec sat in his office using me for his comedy material

Re: If you could Have Lessons Fron Any Professional Drummer Who Would It Be?

Pete Burns used to work in a local record shop here. He would look at the record you were buying and mock it and you with the sneering sarcasm.

Re: Sharing Your Own Drums At Gigs

Snare, cymbals, pedals, stool, sticks - all of these should be brought by each drummer. The only thing any other drummer should be using is your toms and bass drum.

Re: Getting Control Over Your Left Foot?

I simple thing I tried when first starting double bass grooves was to isolate my left foot, and play normal grooves, but play the bass drum part with my left foot, rather than right. This built up...

Re: Can musical genius be hereditary?

I believe that it has to be be both nature and nuture. Look at Jeff and Tim Buckley for the nature aspect, in the voice, but Jeff's guitar playing is down to careful practice.
