Las Vegas just has your typical Guitar Center and Sam Ash. Neither are spectacular but they'll do.

I've had both. Just a personal preference, but I like floor toms with legs. Seems more solid, stable and for me, easier to set up.

I have the mic placed an inch and pointed directly in the middle of the shell. I turn down the input just a bit on the board and it sounds great.
