Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

What a surprise :)

WTF? You have to be trolling. No one is that dense. Everything must be learned.

Like I said before, when you get some experience in the subject, check back in. ...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

My observations are that nobody can keep "real, chronological time" for very long without a machine.

Players play together and there are constant adjustments being made during every song.

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

That's what my bass player used to think until I called him on it. Show us that you can play even a few measures dead nuts on and you will have some credibility.

Until then you are just another...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

Just because it's real doesn't mean it doesn't suck. I'd rather listen to clicked EDM than a shitty band.

But I'd rather listen to a shitty band than rap. :)

I use the speedometer and...

Re: Playing Live With a Metronome

1) Time will still fluctuate even with a click. No one will really notice it but it will happen.

2) I don't know how anyone can wrangle other player into time. It seems like it would be a...

Re: BPM question

Technically, I have no idea.

In my real life, it doesn't ever matter. If it's a slow sounding fast tempo, I call it 108

Re: Playing in a Bar - Length of Sets/Breaks/Hours

Same here. The last band I gigged with played three 60 minute sets.

Re: Where is the "best kit" thread :)

I've never been shy about it Larry. I owe most everything I've learned about music over the past 4-5 to the E kit.

When I started drumming again, I just couldn't get comfortable. The noisy A kit...

Re: Where is the "best kit" thread :) UPDATED

Update:

I have come to the conclusion that it's all about heads and tuning and I am starting to dig acoustic drums again.

I have converted a few off brand kits to electronic for friends and I...

Re: Where is the "best kit" thread :)

Absolutely. I've just never had a drum that sounded like that and I want one and I want it to be simple to maintain.

That's not too much to sak, is it :)

It's always, "That's close enough....

Re: Where is the "best kit" thread :)

I have no idea what you read into my reply, but you were way off base.
I'm simply not concerned about the cost, new/used, wood, finish, features or brand name. Why is that a problem?

I also...

Re: Where is the "best kit" thread :)

I want the sound to ring as true and beautiful as a piano :)

I generally play guitar based play rock/pop.

I have unlimited funds but It would have to be a pretty reputable source to shell out...

Where is the "best kit" thread :)

I know it's a stupid question due to so many variables and I did do a search but found nothing.

I've been broke since 2009 but I finally have some extra cash. I don't want to do something...

Re: Comparing ones abilities with others

I'm very good at not comparing myself. I know that there are many drummers worse than me and it's obvious that there are an equal number far superior.

I just do what I do and try to enjoy it.

Re: Vintage Drum Revelation

30 years ago, I went to the gun store with the intention of getting some kind of bad ass semi automatic hand gun, but I fell in love with the simplicity of the revolver.

And, I'm not going to...

Unless you collect a SS check like I do, shut up and get off my lawn!

I was just thinking of this yesterday. It has occurred to me recently that I could easily get my ass beat these days. I'm a...

Re: Rock and roll....over?

Great observation re: rock and roll.

I hear some new young power pop bands but it's the really same as the their parents (or grandparents) were playing in the late 70's/early 80's

I suppose...

Re: Vintage Drum Revelation

Makes sense to me.

New technology is generally a major improvement in quality.

Old cars may look cool but the suck down gas and they're death traps in the event of an accident.

Old homes...

Re: easiest quick and dirty multi track recording?

In the olden days we would use two cassette recorders.

Record part 1, play it back and record it on the second recorder along with the second track.

Repeat as many times as you want.

But,...

Re: Rock and roll....over?

Those are the only ones that will matter :)

As you age and follow music, you will see new things and you will see things circling back into play.

Always keep your ears open!!

It’s been a long ride to the final destination I guess it had...
