Hi Andy,

I'm going to give this my best shot. I've not had the pleasure of trying a Guru yet, but this is too tempting to pass up. I've downloaded the track, and will begin working on it straight...

Re: 10,000 hours of practice

This.

A thousand times this.

Mastery is not possible. 10,000 is an arbitrary number that just tells us that people who are good at what they do did it a hell of a lot. IMHO, Colaiuta is the...

Re: I'm Running a Little Competition

Thanks. I'm really flattered by it. I'm just some bloke talking about drumming, but people seem to watch, which is great.

Re: So you're going to a band audition...

Yep, this pretty much covers it.

If it were me, I'd want to know what songs we were performing, and if possible, arrangements. Otherwise, I'd want to know which version of a song to learn, if it's...

To celebrate Christmas, my recent album release, and 500 subscribers to my YouTube channel, I'm running a simple competition.

It's very easy to enter, and I'm giving away:

Re: Let's talk about THIS Vinnie video

I suppose so, but if his interviews are to be believed, then no.

Regardless, any idea what this particular "clever" involves?

Re: Gary Chaffee PATTERNS: Your experiences and suggestions

You're welcome, and I agree completely. These four books changed my whole approach; they just clicked.

Re: Gary Chaffee PATTERNS: Your experiences and suggestions

You're very kind.

I think everyone has said it. Be thorough, be patient. If you realise that this stuff could, in theory, see you right for the rest of your drumming life, you will go a long way.

Re: My Album is now available everywhere - Also, hello again

Thanks for the feedback. Physical distribution starts next week, then it's all about promoting, which is not my forte.

Re: Freddie Gruber: Finding Out How a Drum Student Hears

This is brilliant. Thanks for posting.

I was lucky enough to spend the day studying with Dave Weckl in London late last year, and he talked about Freddie an awful lot.

Great stuff!

Re: Have I damaged my mount system?

I removed the head, and the inner fixings are fine.

Where would I look for (and hopefully fix) a loose lug casing?

Upon inspection, everything seemed...
