Congratulations to president Obama and the american people

Read the news today that Obama won the election in the United States.
Just like most of the world, I'm a big supporter of Obama and I'm happy the American people is giving him four more years.

To the Americans out there: how do you feel? Are you satisfied with Obama? Are you glad he's getting four more years?

I'm sure I represent the majority of Finns by supporting Obama, and also wish to congratulate both the president and the people of the USA.

I stayed up all night following the elections, currently sitting in class finding it extremely hard to concentrate :)

I am over the moon. Without discussing too much out of respect for the Repubs here, I think it was the right choice. Unfortunately, Dems didn't get the house though.

It's a relief over here. When the Republicans get in they always seem to be declaring war on someone and that always means we have to join in. Our support in all US wars is the price we pay for the US's partial subsiding of our defence. No choice.

Invasions are incredibly costly, especially mopping up for years afterwards, not to mention the impact on those doing the fighting. So I'm hoping Obama keeps his diplomatic hat on.

It was fairly obvious from the thread title what this was about. Noone is forcing you to click on it. Just saying.

Bernhard or admins,

I trust your going to delete this hypocritical political thread that is against the rules on this site? I never understand why it's ok for one side and not the other? There is a reason alot of us come here and it's not to hear people's political comments no matter what side they are.

Thank you

POLY....I am sure if by chance we invade oh I dont know lets say Iran for instance, Obama will put such a spin on it that even the most die hard liberal berklee student will be supporting it..

I voted, but not for Obama or Romney. But I'd rather have Obama in office despite his adminstration's environmental record is not good so far. The BP Oil spill that went on gushing for a month and ruined the economy of the entire Gulf Coast, for instance.

But Obama's rainbow has way more colors than Romney's. And that's a good thing.

Haha, that one was pretty funny. What does the presidential election have to do with pornography and offensive words? Please. Still, if the thread is against forum rules, I apologize.

This started as a simple congrats message from overseas. Let's try and keep it civil so that it doesn't get ugly like political threads always do.

Just the words that come out of the mouths of those that lost. That's all it has to do with it.

WOW, This is really surprising to hear from an admin... Even under best intentions bermuda these threads always go south so why even chance it? Just look at the post right above this one to see where it's heading already.

Pretty sure there are enough places on the internet to post your congratulations to our President at and was looking forward to a place to go to where I did not have to see it but I guess I was wrong. Just seems so hypocritical to start allowing it now?

We don't want political discussions on Drummerworld Forum.

But congratulations are ok for me....

In this sense we admins do the work...

OK was just going by the rules you set up my bad..

Using the Off Topic Lounge
The original purpose of the Off Topic forum was to discuss subjects that were musical in nature but not necessarily drum-related. We have allowed a bit of leeway with this definition, but we have discovered through trial and error what fits here and what doesn't. Please do not discuss extremely trivial matters. Do not post jokes or poetry. Do not discuss politics or religion.

I also see all judgements on what is political and what is not is ultimately up to you and I am sure if Romney had won you would have allowed this as well. I apologize for bringing into question your authority and wisdom on such matters.

Think about it - why would this thread go south? Who started the angry discussion? Well, you did. Help yourself and calm down.

I know, I've been on forums/bulletin boards for almost 20 years, and never - I repeat, NEVER - has a political thread ended well. I thought this might have a chance since it started very benign and wasn't overtly political in nature, I saw it more like "congratulations on getting through a hairy election" type message.

But no, politics are normally never tolerated or encouraged, because they don't end well. I'd love to see this thread be an exception, but lines are already being toe'd.

I went to a political forum, started talking about Buddy Rich, and they jumped all over me. So, there ya go.

Clegg sure as Hell isn't getting my vote next time around. None of 'that lot' are. I'll have to find an alternative.

I'm very glad this election is over. I'm really skeptical and hesitant about the next four years, but that would have been the case even if Romney had won. At any rate, the Electoral College has spoken. There's not much we can do now but do the best we can with what we've got.

Nhzo, if Obama decided to invade Iran this term no spin would make a difference to me. Don't care about the politics, given that both sides are controlled by the same multinats and tax free religious organisations.

Simple principle - we fight when you are forced to, not because we want to.

PS. Not being political - just pointing out that I am relieved at the result for Oz's sake since we're effectively a state of the US.
