Sticks and women at work

Hi guys. Well, it is a very slow, uneventful night here in ICU, the patients we have are fast asleep.

I usually bring my sticks when I am on nightshift and sit at the nurses station and go over some progressive accented paradiddles on a folded hospital towel.

I have just done 2 hrs non-stop of some sticking exercises. I have also just downloaded Dave Toughs' advanced paradiddles as a PDF onto my thumb drive....got some work to do when I get home.

I work as a Critical care nurse in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)....I work with a LOT of women!! They can burp, fart and talk about bodily functions better than the guys I reckon!

Just as long as you don't use the patients as drum pads then all is good. ;)
I sometimes practice at work too.
I work as an automotive tech and I keep a rubber pad on my workbench.
It relieves stress.

Must be hard working at an ICU man.. The horrible things you guys must see everyday.. All the pain and the sadness.. I don't know how you do it, I know I couldn't.

Thank God there's people like you willing to help the sick and wounded.

Cheers.

I think when the CARERS of sick people pass away is when it is hard to take. You do become somewhat "immune" to many of the stresses.

The women that I work with have been known to hit me with sticks on occasion.

Well done, drumkat. I dunno how you do it either. I'm caring for my old dad - regular sh1t cleaning and the hot washes of PJs and bed linen ... and that would be *nothing* compared with what you deal with. Getting old ain't pretty.

You're very disciplined on the pad too.

But I must call you out on your last sentence ... like the Queen of England we do NOT fart or burp.

Ever.

Everyone knows that only men do yukky stuff ..

Yes dammit, I usually have to pay for that. Whoops, did I just say that ;)

Hey Drumkat, sounds like you're into some pretty advance chops stuff there. Non of those girls hitting you up for a rhythmic shoulder massage? you could open your own clinic :)

Keep up the caring man, you're one of the good ones!

The problem is that most patients have heart arrhythmias...they make TERRIBLE metronomes!!

Most of the nurses here...well...I wouldn't WANT to give 'em a shoulder massage!!!

My chops are NOT advanced at all. All I do is accent each single 16th note of the paradiddle: L r l l R l r r l R l l r L r r l r L l r l R r l r l L r l r R....and so on and so on.
