Roger Pope

Anybody else familiar with him? Did some drumming with Elton John before he hired Nigel Olsson, (on the album "Empty Sky) and worked on the "Tumbleweed Connection" and "Madman Across the Water" albums, then took over for Nigel in 1975-76 when Elton overhauled the band, replacing him and Dee Murray with Kenny Passarelli. He worked on the "Rock of the Westies" and "Blue Moves" albums during this time as well. After this he went on to play drums for Hall and Oates from 1977-78.

Roger with Elton, 1976: He has some flashy hi-hat work, I will tell you.

Re: Roger Pope

Have recently discovered Hookfoot, a band he was in with Caleb Quaye while doing session work with Elton, from 1970-74.

Hookfoot- If I Had The Words- live 1972

Hookfoot- Just a Little Communication-1973

As the saying goes... he's deep in the pocket.
