Hey Bob! That's a low start bid for 10,500 USD, don't you think?

Very nice kit indeed.

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

It would be a cool kit to own.
I can't afford it, LOL
It will be interesting to see what it goes for. Or if it sells.

It will sell, if I could just rob that bank...

Damn! And to think I have to pay off my college tuition first?

But look, I could get some 6" zildjian hand crashes for just a little bit more.

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

I understand putting a bit of an extra premium on the kit because Neil played it.

But face it, it's not a kit Neil took on tour, or recorded a Rush album with. He played it once. It's not worth double because Neil used for a day.

Yeah, but it's a DW so you have to inflate the price to start with any way. :P

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

To bad it isn't a Sonor SQ2 kit. ;)

I'll trade you my fender star caster 5 piece for it!

Still no bids.
Are all of you guys all waiting for the last min?

I'm sniping, $10,500 and one cent. Anymore would be a waste.

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

The fact that one tom L rod isn't plated in gold is the deal breaker for me!

Hahahaha! So true Ken!

keep it simple 08-05-2011 08:11 AM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

Actually, given the collectors interest, the custom plated hardware, I don't think the package price is silly crazy, just not for me. I'd be surprised if it wasn't snapped up by a NP fan.

bobdadruma 08-05-2011 12:58 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

There isn't a NP fan out there that has 10.5k American to blow on a drum kit?
A rich Jazzer will buy the kit just so that he can smash it because Neil played jazz on it. :)

Actually the fact that it is wrapped is what is bugging me.

Don't forget that the kits that Buddy played most were White Marine Pearl.

I just thought of something else.
Who would want a 23 inch bass drum?

Love Neil and that's a great kit but I'd rather have this one

Its actually the perfect size. Feel close to a 22, sound close to 24.

It was a joke!
I understand the reason for Neil playing that size drum.
This whole thread is a joke.
Neil playing at the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert was a cruel joke.
Someone paying over $10,000 for that kit is a joke!

We should all boycot Dale's for having the nerve to put that kit up on eBay for that price.
It is an insult to the memory of Buddy and to all of the great drummers who played at that show.

DrumEatDrum 08-07-2011 01:15 AM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

Zero bids.

Over priced!

GRUNTERSDAD 08-07-2011 03:32 AM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

That drum kit should be auctioned off for charity with the price starting at what it cost to make at DW. As Bob said it's an embarassment and only lends itself to someones greed, the seller, and someones stupidity, the buyer. The performance was poor.

bobdadruma 08-07-2011 03:43 AM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

I agree with the Mayor.
That kit should be auctioned for charity.
That would make it worth it.

Be nice. At least he tried to play something he admits he is not that well versed at, for the whole world to see.

bobdadruma 08-07-2011 03:26 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

Perhaps Neil will wait til the last seconds of the auction and buy the kit so that it looks like a fan bought it! ;)
Please remember that this thread is all in good fun.
Let's not get ugly.

sticks4drums 08-07-2011 04:17 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

In all seriousness. To buy that kit new, which I would never do, in Canada would probably be about 8 thousand dollars, before tax, from DW, as a special order.

bobdadruma 08-07-2011 04:22 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

I figured about the same price for new too.
I don't like all the gold hardware. It's too much!
That kit used is worth about $5000 in this poor economy.

sticks4drums 08-07-2011 04:28 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

Yes too much bling for me also. Never been a fan of anything Gold. Even my wedding ring is white gold.

8Mile 08-07-2011 05:17 PM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

I don't have $10K to spend on a drum set of any kind, but I don't think it's a crazy price when you consider the intangibles. I admired this kit the first time I saw it because I think it looks nice and the modern take on a classic look appeals to me.

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

And we have a bidder! 14 minutes to go!

Bob, I think you're right: it's some pissed off jazz drummer who going to just burn the frigging thing! (either that or it's Neil...)

bobdadruma 08-08-2011 03:07 AM

Re: For All Of You Neil Fans

It is a Jazz player who is also a forum member.
He just PM'ed me and he invited me to his house next Sat night for a bonfire!!
He was bidding against Neil.
Sold for $12,100 USD
