I just found this gem on Youtube. Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". I recall hearing this several times through out my life, but never knew who it was from or what it was called. Then one day, i'm watching one of those 60's concerts on PBS where they drag out all of these random old groups. This was easily the best!!!

Interesting side note about this band; John Lennon was a really big fan, he was quoted as saying they were one of his favorites.

I'm forcing myself to listen to classical music on Sirius radio to try and force non drumset music into my one track mind. The only time I really listen to music (besides while playing) is in my car. I have Sirius radio so virtually any genre is at my disposal Muu haa haa!

Unfortunately I only listen to Blues. Comedy once in a while. Bluegrass now and then. Jazz even less, but sometimes. And now classical. I heard enough classic rock growing up to last me till I go. The newer music....honestly I don't give it enough of a chance. Lame but true.

Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders album

Recommend both albums to people who are into 70's and 80's rock music and the Neo-prog wave.
Pretty awesome!

Umphrey's McGee. Cool jam band in the vein of Phish, Moe., and the Disco Biscuits.

I've also been checking out J. Dilla's production work with some of the best hip hop artists of all time.

Two things seem to be spinning on the turntables right now: Calibro 35 and the TRON: Reconfigured disc.

I know, the TRON thing I didn't think I was going to like, but since I'm a Kraftwerk fan, I wanted to hear how Daft Punk deals with its one influence. I kinda' like it. Calibro 35 is an Italian combo that's re-doing alot of that cheesy soundtrack stuff from the old Italian cop movies/shows. It's total old-school funk and they use farfisa organs and wah-wah pedals. Stewart Copeland, I found out, is somewhat involved playing lap steel on a couple of tracks, but these guys rock! A totally serendipitous find. Look it up on iTunes and see if you don't buy a few tracks ;)
