it's haiku time

facebook takes up time
the summer falls to winter
i must get out more

this episode sucks
i miss the second season
where is the remote?

so many meetings
difts of paper work like snow
i need some matches

this dirty keyboard
the keys stick like winter mud
avoid letterxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

please pass me the crisps
they crunch like leaves in the frost
but do we have dip?

some thoughts are so small
only an angel could dance
my haiku is done

gaudy christmas comes
snow tinsel blah blah blah blah
bah! humbug says i

the notes are not clear
i must clean my glockenspiel
pass the cillit bang

many have asked me
why do i write these haikus?
it's like chewing gum

three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables with the second line mentioning something about the season.

Re: it's haiku time

and something for drummers:

my drum kit sounds good
the crowd heaves like a spring sea
oh no my stick broke

what groove should i play?
i cannot recall this song
this is not my band!

I love haikus. You're quite prolific and entertaining!

I heard this one the other day and thought it was clever:

If not for the cat
and the scarcity of cheese
I could be content

LOL, good one!

Reminds me of this non-haiku:

Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
I'm not a good poet
As you can tell

Sounds suspiciously more like a guitar player to me...

Set up drums in hall
Guitar player counts off tunes
Here comes a long gig

Here's the best anti-Haiku song, ever written. My buddy Dusty, a singer-songwriter I was playing with a few years ago, came up with this while practicing his acoustic and singing to his cat. Seriously...he loves this cat...but he won't do Haikus for it.

I have one of both of us playing it, but you can't hear the lyrics clearly enough on it...so here's a solo copy.

I am aghast that
our mod from not very long past
would break a fast rule

to post poetry
under the guise of haiku
without looking cool

It is not allowed
To post poems on the forum
What is going on?

I don't understand
The implications of this
Have the rules now changed?

Re: it's haiku time

Here is one that I wrote when I was in about the third grade that I never forgot.
I got a "C" as a grade for it. I was pissed! I thought that it was good!
I cussed out the teacher and I got detention. The first of many detentions to come.
Thats why I never forgot the poem.
I never tried in school again after that! I never cared!
That teacher crushed me!

Spring is here again
The birds are singing sweetly
Soon summer will come

don't be such a spoilsport
rules are made to be broken
i don't give a hoot

please take this statement
in the way it's intended
no offence is meant

so i accept no
responsibility or
liability

and not to mention
any claims for damages
in this agreement.

Yea that's the name
That name again
Is Mr. Plow

And still sounding smooth

I have just noticed
This one's eight syllables
In the second line

Could my haiku skills
Be in need of improvement?
I'll just say 'maybe'

Pollyanna 12-17-2010 01:42 PM

Re: it's haiku time

PQ, it is true
That you blew the syllables.
You must need more jazz.

May I recommend
Some Gene, Art, Elvin or Steve?
Man, those guys are bad.

PQleyR 12-17-2010 06:33 PM

Re: it's haiku time

I have seen some Gene
But the others, not so much
Perhaps it's jazz time.

It's a bit tricky -
Is "Steve" Gadd, Jordan or Smith?
I meant Gadd with Chick.

Fuo 12-17-2010 11:24 PM

Re: it's haiku time

we're using haikus
to have full conversations?
that seems excessive

Re: it's haiku time

On the contrary
It means the use of less words
Than usually, Fuo*

*Assuming your name
Has only one syllable
Instead of Fu-o

However it smells funny
Rock's on the nose too.

It works if that's so
