Every Genre Imaginable

I came across an App for my iPhone called AccuRadio. They also have a dot com by the same name. They have hundreds of different genres, sub genre, etc to listen to. Check them out at www.accuradio.com. If you can't find your type of music there is doesn't exist. Although I did email them to find out where the Zydeco section was. Enjoy.

Below is only a sampling up to letter "C"

Well it's obvious that no one here listens to music on the net.

I remember walking into a record store in the late 80's (remember those?) and seeing that the majority of the bins were labeled Alternative. I asked the salesman what all these records were the alternative to since it was the majority of music being sold there.

He looked at me like I just beamed down from Jupiter! I guess he didn't see the irony. Oh well...

There is a small part of me that cringes every time I see such lists.

I don't understand why some people insist that bands and/or songs have to be placed in neat little boxes with such specific labels on them.

Obviously, descriptions helps tell someone what direction a band might be in, but when it gets down to sub-genres of a sub-genre of a sub genre, it starts getting a bit silly.

Hahaha....

I remember having a similar discussion in like 1991, and I find it hard to believe 19 years later, so many mainstream bands are still called "alternative".

Exactly my thoughts. I don't really care about labels. Or let's say, I like the labels "rock, pop, jazz, classical, country, hip-hop, etc" like the big ones. All the rest...well let's just listen and decide if it's to like or not!

Haha, we just played an open mic, and the MC asked, "What kind of music do you play?" and our singer looked at us and then him and said, "You decide."

Agreed. What's next - Afro-Celtic sludgecore? Post-punk math gangsta?

I think it's actually called Afro-Celtic Hip Hop. With Michael Flately(sp) doing River Dance type steps to some hard core Hip Hop. Every now and then throwing in a moon walk.
