If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

a fantasy band thread you will be the drummer but who would you have to play in your band?

ill go first.
Drums: me
Guitar 1 Matt Bellamy (Muse)
guitar 2 Jack White (White Stripes/Raconteurs)
bass Les Claypool (Primus)

i think id have to have all 3 of them sharing vocal duties though, its a tough decision otherwise :P

dead people allowed :P

Re: If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

On Guitar: Alex Lifeson

On bass: the late John Entwhiste would be my 1st choice, but since he has passed away, Joey Vera.

Keys: Kevin Moore.

Vocals: Devon Graves from Dead Soul Tribe.
Or Ray Adler of Fates Warning
Or Lars Eikind of Before the Dawn.

Re: If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

Do I have to be the drummer? Because I'm definitely not qualified to play with my dream team. :p

This is the group I'd put together, not just for their talent and style, but also for their song writing and composition. Also, I think they would complement each other really well.

Fiona Apple (vocals, keys)
Eric Clapton (guitar)
Jimmy Page (guitar)
John Paul Jones (bass)
Dave Grohl (drums)

Re: If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

Yea I'd rather not be the drummer... 2-3 months of experience would make my dream band a nightmare.

Maynard James Keenan (vocals)
Mikael Akerfeldt (guitar and vocals)
Randy Rhoads (guitar, if dead people are allowed)
Geddy Lee (bass and occasional keys)
Danny Carey (drums)

It's tempting to put Les Claypool on bass... but he's too... overpowering. Every band he's in sounds like Primus (not that that's necessarily a bad thing).

Three guitarists? wouldn't be too much for music, but it'd be quite the wankfest....

My dream band:

Guitar and bass and drums (me) from my early 80s band:
http://www.sangrea.net/rijidij/mp3/A..._Your_Feet.mp3

And sax player from a later incarnation of the band:
http://www.sangrea.net/rijidij/mp3/A...0-%20Boots.mp3

Plus the singer from my current band:

I mean, c'mon ... even discounting a few of minor mortality issues Will Calhoun, Jaco, Jeff Beck, Josef Zawinul, Michael Brecker, Miles, John Lennon and Joni Mitchell (with Jesse Garon dancing) aren't going to start up a band on my behalf :)

Re: If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

Ginger Baker: Drums
Willie Nelson: Vocals/Bass
Keith Richards: Guitar

Band Name....... Prune Face

Oops, six weeks late responding but better late than never, eh? Jesse the dancer is compulsory - the icing on the cake.

A few interesting suggestions here ... Hercules ... I can see your rhythm section getting along but Keith Emerson and Satchmo in the same band ... weird, but I can almost imagine Louis belting out "Welcome back my friends to this show that never end!" ... almost :)

Lex, why not have Fiona Apple sing?

Re: If you could build a band, who whould be in it.

I guess I would want to play the drums in the band I was creating, but if it was just a dream group of guys playing together it would look like this.

Danny Carey on drums. Real original I know, but his playing just speaks to me.
Dave Mustain on lead guitar. I know he is usually more of a rhythm player but one of my favorite solos of all time he played. Plus he would need to play lead so I could have:
James Hetfield on rhythm guitar. Not the greatest player, but somebody has to write the songs and IMO he is the best in the metal business.
I would want Flea on the bass because the combo of him and the two metal guitarists could be very cool. He would take a bit of a backseat in this band, but he could add so much to the songwriting and overall texture of the songs.
For vocals I would want Corey Taylor from Slipknot/Stone Sour. He has an incredible voice and can really get down and scream it out when necessary.

So there you go. Now if I could just make it happen.
