Nothing like some classic sabbath to start my day!

I have a classic drummer with a Bill Ward article. He talks about playing "dark" as much as he can.

...Ozzy was still coherent back then!!! :)

You do mean that he handled his substances better than now; I believe.

Yeah, Ian thanks for the heads up Bill is always great to listen to!

Well, if you graph his substance abuse over time SA/T I believe he reached a saturation point in the early 90's s=1991 therefore, in youth his faster metabolism (FM) + lower saturation (LS) = more intelligable speech. His older self has a higher saturation (HS) and slower metabolism (SM).

His speech had been degraded by the late 90's so logically SA/T+SM+HS= obscenity laced babbling on mtv reality show. (OLB+MTV.)

Absolutely loved it! Bill pounds the *-#*^ out of his drums. His triplets are money. Wonder if BW got any ideas from Bonham who recorded Dazed and Confused a year earlier?

Bill Ward´s influences:

Childhood: Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson.

Childhood to early years: Larrie London, Bernard Purdie, Joe Morello, Keif Hartley, Hughie Flint, John Bonham, Ringo Starr, Jim Capaldi, Clive Bunker.

From teens, onward: Many, many drummers, some rock, but mainly older jazz players, swing players.

All The Best,

Ian

Ahh, The birth of Metal! I remember it like it was yesterday. I think that I played that song at least five or six times a week way back when. I could only play it when my parents weren't home. I had to hide my Sabbath albums in the shed behind my house along with my Playboy Mags!

One of the best of all time and does not get nearly the recognition he should IMO.

Good on you, brothers! At least we are giving our grain of recognition to Bill Ward's drumming.

Cheers,

I Remember seeing them in the early 70s in Phila.,during their show,it was apparent that Bill was having some issues. The roadie had a towel on his head, and looked like he was about to pass out.As they finished,he had to be helped off stage,so im thinking they are not coming back out..Well they did,and he just ripped it up man.................Never forgot that...

Bill Ward is one of those great drummers with humble attitude, he doesn't boast himself.
