Strange or Incorrect Names

I have a Retro channel from my local cable provider that show old TV shows. Yesterday while watching Dragnet, there was a party going on in one apartment, and the neighbor lady complained. When the cops showed up, Gannon and Sgt. Friday, a guy came to the door calling himself, "Kettle Drum Man." He was playing a conga, and a lady who was playing a tambourine that he called a "Gypsy Cymbal." I had never heard this last term before. Obviously the Conga was mis-named, but a Gypsy Cymbal???

It always makes me cringe when someone refers to "side-stick" as a "rimshot"..
