Patrick Keeler

I can't stop listening to the Raconteurs. PK's drumming is so awesome. He is very tastful and creative. He adds so much to each song, without being flashy or pretentious. A total class act all the way.

Here is a pic of the man in action. I really like his kit. Low slung 1 up 2 down with minimal cymbals and a 2nd small kick.

Saw them on Conan Obrien. They were killer as well as his drumming. This is the group Jack White should be focusing on and known for. It seems like White Stripes is such a novelty act even though there's some great tunes.

I love this guy and his kit, he is a huge influence on me, and his stuff is real tight, their latest album is great.

The drum sound and especially the snare sound on the new album is killer. The man has great feel. Can't wait to catch 'em live.

I saw the band on TV a few weeks back.
I had never heard of him.
What I saw he played just one bass drum, a four peice kit.

He's the most interesting player in the band.
Fine creative, musical, passionate, solid drumming IMO.

I'm glad other people have realised this great talent.
PK has really struck a chord with me. I'm a huge John Bonham fan and so is he, and it definitley comes out in his playing. Such energy.
He uses lovely Ludwig kits in pretty much the same sizes as Bonham and he uses Giant Beat Paiste Cymbals which is the ones Bonham used for the first four Led Zeppelin albums.
And I have those cymbals too :P

The songs I saw him play he used matched grip about 80% changing to tradinational grip for the remaining.

He's one of my favorite drummers playing out right now. Saw Raconteurs opening for Bob Dylan (who's current drummer, George Recile is excellent as well) about two years ago now.
Keeler has a great vintage, yet modern & creative style. His playing... The drums, cymbals and heads he uses just has/have that sound that one dosn't hear with most drummers today.
The band Keeler and Jack Lawrence were in pre-Raconteurs, The Greenhornes, has put some really great stuff out aswell. Also, be sure to check out (if you haven't already) the work the members of the Raconteurs (before they in the band together) did on Loretta Lynn's album Van Lear Rose, which came out a few years back.
If you guys like Patrick Keeler, pick up the October issue of modern drummer, as he is a featured article in it!

I really dig what PK is doing.

The new album is fantastic--it's been in the car since I bought it about 3 weeks ago.

His SS Ludwig kit with the 12" tom is great.

His kit sounds great, the drums on the album sound great, and his snare sound is fantastic.
The first song has a 6.5 Acrolite from what he said in the MD article (great article and pics too).

It's been quite a while since I got a thrill form listening to a drummer in the rock world like this.
Unfortunately, everything seems to be very generic and you can't tell one group from another much anymore.

PK has become quite an influence lately, just like Hunt Sales did with tin machine back in the early 90's.
He's cool and different, with creative parts that sound like real drums and cymbals.

It's good fun playing Raconteurs songs on the drums.

We covered Consolers of the Lonely, and I had a great time.

Re: Patrick Keeler

I saw them (The Racs) last year in SF when they just started touring on the Consolers album. It was about a month or so, since the album's release, so the songs were burned into my memory banks fairly well. Keeler was a work horse that night! Everything sounded smooth and improvised from him, and it flowed extremely well. Not to mention the three gallons of sweat he must've left on the stage. The whole band was great that night. Even White had some crazy electronics and pedals he was working with. If you ask me Keeler is an extremely under-rated drummer.

Two of my favorite modern day drummers Pat Keeler and Matt Helders of the Artic Monkeys. They both can cook!

Great drummer, and great band. Really good mix of classic and contemporary rock.
