drums around world, need help

Hey guys, this summer I'm going to Istanbul. I made a deal with a good friend of mine that this summer we would both accumulate as much percussion as we can. And when i get back into the states we would go jam with friends at a campfire like we used to do. Now, he already has a Djembe. He's winning. But I'm going to turkey, italy, greece, and croatia. So, i have a huge advantage, right? But, where am I supposed to get these drums? Does anybody have any experience with traveling to any of these places and buying some tight stuff for cheap? I know it can be done. My drum teacher went to Italy and bought a handmade djembe from Africa for about 10 USD. If anybody has any suggestions about how to do this I would really, really appreciate it.

You're probably just gonna have to try the markets i'm afraid. I'm sure you'll find something.

my grandparents went over to that area and said that there were all sorts of cool instruments as well as other items in the town markets. In the big cities though, you'll find markets, but they also have modern shops as well.

These markets are full of cheap stuff made specifically for tourist souvenirs. The shops also have authentic, well-crafted instruments for tourists who want a real instrument. You'll be able to spot the difference but you might not be willing to pay the price difference.
