No More Headphones

I finally found a solution to my headphone problems. Now I can hear the music without wires all over my head.

It's the internet, I've seen it dozens of times.

I bet they're really distorted.

Re: No More Headphones

They're probably not distorted at all actually. I don't want to guess the output based on those pictures, but there's plenty of amps that'll run drivers like that with absolutely no distortion or issues. It's more like managing a PA - but I don't think the sound itself would be a problem.

It's like if you were playing a tuba or a trumpet.
The bell at the end doesn't distort the sound at all if you know what i mean.
IT just makes it loulder.

A genius solution to those loud drums. You probably can't even hear them over this stereo system.

It looks lie something from Dr Seuss!

Re: No More Headphones

Id prefer the headphones, as it blocks out the crack off the snare drum and the volume of the drums and cymbals. When not drumming to anything i almost always use ear protection. I was sick of my ears ringing, hours after a practice, and i think it might have been doing some damage, so its ear plugs for me.

Yea, if your ears "hurt" or you have a headache after playing, or your ears are ringing. More than likely damage has been done.

Re: No More Headphones

It does take time for hearing damage to become apparent. That ringing in your ears is a sign that you have over-exposed yourself, but if that happens VERY occasionally then you're not going to do yourself any serious harm. On the other hand, if you are over-exposing yourself every night to those sort of levels, I would advise hearing protection and regular hearing tests from a medical professional.

So should I consider the blood from my ears significant??

A friend sent me a bunch of photos of crazy stuff and I found this one truly amazing.
Its not mine but it is real.

Regardless of power, if you have a speaker with a horn 6x bigger, it really messes with sound quality. Same with megaphones and PAs, well at least the high frequency parts have horns.

Re: No More Headphones

Simple physics states that refraction will only occur when the size of aperture is smaller than the wavelength. These are dealing with the high frequencies with very small wavelengths (feel free to correct my physics, it's been an awfully long time) and I don't see how large horns are going to affect the driver, regardless of size. I've seen full range speakers with tiny treble drivers but large horns and it doesn't make any subjective difference as far as I can tell other than altering the directional characteristics. Certainly not distortion; which would occur at the point of the creation of the wave. If the membrane was damaged, yes, and if it were being driven too hard, yes. Otherwise, no.
